It was after WW2. The US spent the century before that building up the country rapidly through the industrial revolution and the massive manufacturing output they produced. Steel, rubber, gold that were sold on international markets and tons of finished products (fridges, radios, cars, etc) for the American population to consume (beginning of consumerism we see today).

Prior to entering the Second WW, America was much very an isolated state, similar to China during much of the 20th century. They did partake in South America/North American affairs but that was because of the Monroe Doctrine and really just the beginning of exercising their military might in their sphere of the world. When Japan attacked America in WW2 and America entered the war, they were ready to flex that military and economic power they built up the past century. When they dropped them thangs on Japan to ultimately end the war, that was the TRUE, IMO, beginning of America’s world dominance.

Right after this, they went into a lengthy Cold War against the Russians in the battle of communism and capitalism to see which way of life would serve the world better and to open up countries and “markets” all around the world. They won this too by the end of the 1980s with the dissolution of the Soviet Union. I glossed over a lot but to answer your question, it was after the war that began that American arrogance. Especially with the Marshall Plan and re building Europe after it was destroyed by the war. Not to mention their technological advances throughout the 40s-60s, especially during the Space Race. All of this added to the arrogance and idea of “American exceptionalism”

Way before that. WW1 and definitely the Spanish American war.

I feel it started after World War 1, after the roaring 20s, when the Great Depression was slowly ending. The people weren't willing to get entangled into European nations affairs anymore. Thats when it became America first. World War 2 brought it to a head tho, cause that's when America started flexing on other countries and trying to prove not only could they be first they could be the best. Sporting events like the Olympics played a big part too.

Well technically the idea of American Exceptionalism is born out of that arrogance and that was at the inception of the nation.

I’m thinking more of America’s actions and distribution of power on the world stage. They didn’t start displaying that and shaping the world to their way of life until the Second World War.

Right after WW2 is when that arrogance started. Think about it...

shyt is pretty much the end of the british empire.
Every other industrial power is destroyed or heavily damaged, leaving really just the usa.
American manufacturing switches from wartime to peacetime. So the jobs, cars, whatever are going to be plentiful.
The usa dollar becomes the reserve currency.
The american middle class as we currently know it was created by the 1000 foot wave of prosperity that slammed into the usa because of all of that.

shyt dudes.. well white dudes coming back and have whole suburbs with nice homes being built for them. With in shape wives and a chicken in every pot waiting for them:pachaha:

The usa it the only game in town and starts waving it's dikk every where across the planet.:dame:

And to top it off, you get a solid 20 years of this...
20 years of that type of prosperity.. and yeah you're going to be arrogant as fukk. No one can tell you shyt

Yea i think so. WW2 and the Industrial Revolution.

American propaganda was at alltime high in the 40s-50s. Jobs were plentiful (to white folks), they were damn near giving away land and houses to (white) veterans and the military was strong. Black folks were catching hell, but a American white man in the 40s and 50s was like a lottery ticket

Ain't that the truth :francis:
