HR: Cooly High, Coming to America, Friday

While Blade was not technically a Black movie, it had a lot of black themes and deserves an honorable mention.

I was looking up Fear of a Black Hat on IMDB which looks like another CB4 and seen this movie....

Anyone every seen? I feel bad that I haven't watched a lot of these black films yet. I remember watching The Fat Boys in one of their movies, but I think it was Disorderlies.

Everyone in this movie play themselves, EXCEPT Rush, played by Blair Underwood

Michael B. Jordan
Ne-Yo
Andre Royo
Elijah Kelly

No one liked this?

It was in my master list, but I went with Bird instead. Attack the Block was the next. BTW, Gregory Hines doesn't get enough credit as an actor - Running Scared, Tap, Renaissance Man...
:salute:Reps for everyone that posted a list. I'll get who I couldn't get tomorrow.

Thought this thread would be good for discussion before we get into Black History Month and the controversial Oscar Awards this year.

It's sad that so few black films come out these days and even fewer get recognized. The 90's seems like the peak for great black films.

It's because they've become parodies; exploiting everything that we detest when other films do it. And the black film genre is a follow-my-lead type industry combined with paint-by-numbers format.

.

Fear of a Black Hat to CB4 is like Power to Empire. Fear of a Black Hat is very intelligent spoof though. Think This is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, Airplane. It's that good.

:mjlol:I swear they messed up this film on purpose. It could have been an Oscar film (Minus Ne-Yo and Method Man).
