The Great Saiyaman (or New Generation, as the manga called it) saga. Made it completely obvious it was a wrap for Gohan as the main character before he even started.

I always looked at sagas as smaller scale than some of you though (Saiyan, Frieza, Cell, Buu... they'd be arcs, each containing multiple sagas).

My least favorite is definitely the Buu Saga.

It started off decent with Gohan going to school, Krillin having a family, the rest of the characters having moved on, and the tournament. After that though it just got kinda lame to me :yeshrug:

Everybody who wasn't a Saiyan was pretty much obsolete. Not even Piccolo was considered a legit contender by that point.

After Gotenks, Vegito, and Mystic Gohan are all each touted as the only way to beat Buu, none of them accomplish much of anything and Goku ends up beating him with a move he learned in the Saiyan Saga. In his base form.

Goten and Trunks going Super Saiyan at eight years old? :dahell:

Vegeta's death on Namek >>>>>>>> Vegeta's final sacrifice against Buu. That whole saga never would have happened if he hadn't sould his soul in the first place.

Not a popular opinion, but I honestly don't mind the Garlic Jr. Saga. Yeah, he's a corny villain, but it was a breath of fresh air seeing the rest of the characters actually saving the day without Goku or Vegeta for once. We see Gohan saving the day, foreshadowing his role in the Cell arc. We get to see Piccolo shining. We see Krillin pushing the flyest whips and rocking the cleanest suits, and we get a glimpse into his love life. We see Vegeta in space searching for the secret to going Super Saiyan. I admit it isn't amazing, but I still like the Garlic Jr. Saga. It's a real shame Tien never showed up in that arc.

That's my favorite Saga Breh :wtf:
Eh last time I rewatched the whole series was 2010 so present day me may change my opinion, I've explained my feeling but I'll try and shorten it

The beginning of Frieza saga (which is the arc not saga) is so boring and doesnt really get remotely interesting until Ginyu stuff and that in itself is tedious. Everything else is gold although Goku/Frieza drags, those points alone keep me from saying it's the best. Cell/Saiyan/Buu >>>>>> for me from an entertaining POV

I have such a weird relationship with buu saga because it has a lot of flaws and takes away all the martial arts and importance of the other characters but for some reason it's very entertaining IMO, like if you asked me to put an episode of DBZ on rn out of any saga, chances are it's from that time. Also the beginning of Buu Saga is probably my favorite parts of Z

The Great Saiyaman (or New Generation, as the manga called it) saga. Made it completely obvious it was a wrap for Gohan as the main character before he even started.

I look at it that way to Sagas vs. Arc

Funny you say that as the Great Saiyaman stuff made me think Gohan would be a prime character to be the main guy

Second unpopular opinion: the Cell saga had some issues. It introduced a lot of dope characters and had great fights, but it was bogged down by pretty much everybody in the story making dumb decisions for the sake of the plot. (The z fighters not deactivating the androids before the attack, Bulma bringing her baby to a war zone, Vegeta letting Cell go perfect, Krillin smashing the remote, Dr. Brief not telling 16 that his bomb was removed, Goku giving Cell a senzu bean, Gohan not ending cell when he had the chance, Goku not teleporting in and out of King Kai's when Cell was about to selfdestruct.)

Granted, I still like the Cell saga (future Trunks, Piccolo vs 17, Tien holding Cell back, Goku vs perfect Cell :salute: ) but the Saiyan/Frieza storyline was definitely better.

Buu was corny

Whole bunch of transformations happening that didnt mean shyt
when Goku held his own in normal form against Kid Buu

And it was light hearted compared to the other 3 sagas

Buu Saga easily.

It was hard to take Buu seriously as a villain, dude was just too silly. Plus it was the point where Gohan officially became :flabbynsick: status.

Yep. Buu huffing &'puffing before he morphed, turning folks into cookies... And is that when Gohan was an older teen ager and they had the bullshyt fillers of him in school ??? Ugh. That was so lame

Gonna say Buu saga since it's the saga that had me leave DBZ alone for good.

Depends on the author and how he breaks it down
Example

Bleach is broken into 5 arcs according to Kubo

DB i dont think is broken down like what u saying

Only series i know that is broken down into that is One Piece which has
2 grand sagas(part 1/2 or pre time skip/post time skip)
8-9 sagas
And the sagas broken into 25+ arcs

And its ongoing.

Db i think is broken down to sagas and only sagas.
