what was the difference between leone's spaghetti westerns and regular westerns?
not just leone but any spaghetti western was likely to be a more cynical take on the tropes of american westerns. morals are shades of gray instead of black and white, protagonist is often an anti hero, violence is usually more cruel and bloody, women are more scheming and sometimes shown nude, voices are sometimes dubbed if recorded in italian first.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

Not only is it my favorite Western, it's my all time favorite flick and idgaf what you think about it.

BUT, if that doesn't count..............3:10 to Yuma (either version tbh) is an easy #1.

I hated "classic American westerns" but I really liked Shane.

But I mainly fukk with spaghetti westerns so I'll list those in no order

1. The good the bad the ugly
2. The big gundown
3. The great silence
4. Duck you sucker/ a fistful of dynamite
5. Companeros

high-noon1.jpg

dope as hail nikkas... so fkn dope as hail....

Tombstone is the goat western movie, every actor killed their part

my favorite character in Tombstone was Doc Holiday played by Val Kilmer

I also liked Posse alot, the Black western
Posse was definitely better than the other Black western The Harder They Fall that was on Netflix a couple years ago

and like OP said Django isn't a western

once upon a time in the west
hang em high

honestly its crazy to think how Clint went from these crazy ass westerns to crazy ass everything else

Outlaw Josey Wales
Hanne Caulder
McCabe and Ms. Miller
The Searchers

COMICS (cause this shyt fentanyl and needs to be live action/animated):

Jonah Hex by Palmiotti and Gray (70 issues, 2005-2011): Head bussin and wig splitting in the old west. That about sums it up.

787-1.jpg

Scalped by Aaron and Guera (60 issues, 2007-2012):

SOMEBODY explain to me why this hasn't been adapted to a TV by somebody. Honestly, prolly same reason you don't see crime sagas set around trailer parks. That's not Americana that white folks wanna look at. But yeah. Justified, Breaking Bad, The Shield, The Wire. It's all in here with some thinly veiled native american mysticism.

And exluding The Shield, this came first.

BOTH are amongst my GOAT comic runs/stories.
