I was watching the '86/'87 Wrestling Challenge episodes on Peacock earlier, these are what was goin' on shortly before I started watching later in '87.

My brother used to watch it in the 80s, but I never understood what was goin' on. All I knew was Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, maybe Junkyard Dog and a couple others. I remember my brother would do the JYD powerslam and the sleeperhold on me, shyt like that. My cousin had all the action figures, I would see the commercials for the toys on TV, I even saw the cartoon... but none of this made me interested in actually watching it. Til one day, my neighbor Tony had gotten WrestleMania III from the video store and he was staying over my house because our mothers went to a party. He put the tape on, I watched the whole thing with him, and I was stuck on wrestling ever since. Watching Superstars and Challenge every weekend, then I discovered NWA, then World Class, then AWA... Brehs... :mjcry: gettin' emotional just rememberin' it...

Any of y'all remember the first time wrestling caught your eye?

my dad ordering Wrestlemania 9
i bet he regrets that decision :mjlol:

also my cousin had VHS recorded copy of Royal Rumble 93
that i watched not too long after this

i was hooked with the Bret Hart/Razor Ramon match, never seen the Raws before this
but WWF did a good job summarizing the story on the hype package so i knew who to cheer for

I'm probably misremembering something, but Ultimate Warrior and Randy were cutting a promo about how they hadn't eaten, slept, or drank water for days. I was wondering how they were still alive.

EDIT:Found it!

My dad was watching it in the living room and I was like "What the hell?:picard:" but you better believe I sat my little ass down and paid attention.

I don't know if I was flipping through channels or my dad was, but the first thing I remember seeing pro wrestling of any kind was Macho Man doing a flying axe handle to someone (I think One Man Gang). I think they were recapping WrestleMania IV or something. But seeing someone attack another person by flying off a high place had young me :whoo:

I remember Macho Man dropping that ring bell on Steamboat's throat and Jesse Ventura reacting like a cartoon.

this is what comes to mind, although I was familiar with Hogan, Warrior, Macho Man...those Rock n Wrestling moments didn't commit to memory when i was younger.

McMahon: "He suffered a crushed LARYNX!" Watching the Superstars/Challenges from that time, they really pushed that CRUSHED LARYNX hard and tried to make us think Steamboat might never be able to talk again :heh:
