I was watching the '86/'87 Wrestling Challenge episodes on Peacock earlier, these are what was goin' on shortly before I started watching later in '87.
My brother used to watch it in the 80s, but I never understood what was goin' on. All I knew was Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, maybe Junkyard Dog and a couple others. I remember my brother would do the JYD powerslam and the sleeperhold on me, shyt like that. My cousin had all the action figures, I would see the commercials for the toys on TV, I even saw the cartoon... but none of this made me interested in actually watching it. Til one day, my neighbor Tony had gotten WrestleMania III from the video store and he was staying over my house because our mothers went to a party. He put the tape on, I watched the whole thing with him, and I was stuck on wrestling ever since. Watching Superstars and Challenge every weekend, then I discovered NWA, then World Class, then AWA... Brehs... gettin' emotional just rememberin' it...
Any of y'all remember the first time wrestling caught your eye?
