Got a secured card with Cap 1. I used it for basic stuff like gas or phone bill, and I paid it off every month.
Then a year later, I applied for Chase Freedom and Amex and was approved. I followed the same routine. Use cards for utilities and monthly bills, then at the month, pay them off like I was using cash. :yeshrug:Now I don't even check anymore as it is set to Auto Pay at each statement. My balance is always 0.
Yeah I got a card with Cap 1. Also a Auto Loan with them. I just got my limit raised to 500

Don't stress it. You are on the right path. My first card with Cap 1 had $300.:mjlol:
Keep making your payments. Also have a budget to track expenses. If you find a way to cut down expenses at the end of the month for like a movie night for example, use it to pay off debt.
It takes time, but it's good that you are working on it. :salute:

700 give or take a few points. Been working on it the last year or so. Disputed everything, got all my negative shot off my report save an old medical debt or two. Both will fall off within the next two years. Aiming for 750-800 by then.

Went a couple months without working so I racked up about $5500 in credit card debt with one getting closed. Now that I’m earning decent money I should be able to pay those off.

I also have school loans. Looking to get my score to as close to 700 as possible for now so I can get a good APR on a used car loan from the credit union. That’s been my short term goal for a while now, actually. Then I can finally get a car and make trips.

This credit shyt locks you in from really living life.
Credit doesn't lock you in from living life. Debt does tho. Think of all the extra cash you would have if you didn't have to pay back debt. Instead, most people use credit for the cash they really don't have. Try to save up for a used car and buy it outright although I understand you would like the auto loan payments for your credit score. Instead, get a couple more credit cards and just use them once or twice a month and pay in full.

I'm close to breaking 800 on experian but I just recently found out my sister-in-law's credit score is 800 and her financial situation is trash...so I don't know what to think anymore.

It's all games. I had 25k in CC debt. Score was 690. Transfered the debt from CC to Personal loan, without paying down balance. Score jumped to 760.

All because I went from revolving to installment.

It's all games.
