Drive was an OK Movie but also Nothing Special, liked him in Ganester Squad but those are the only Movies that I've seen him in. I know Girls re Geeked Off him from The Notebook but other than that, I don't really see what's so Great about this Guy.

:mindblown:...and what's with everybody wanting him to be The Flash?:why:

Gosling doesn't have a Funny Bone in his Body :whoa: PAUSE ..he could never be Barry.

He's been in comedies and has performed well.

I think right now hes solid but not great...there really aint that many standout under 40 actors I can think of. Tom Hardy's better to me hes shown a lot more range than Gosling. Michael Fassbender's better from a straight acting standpoint....other than that whos out there.

JGL and Jake Gyllenhaal are both better, though I have enjoyed Gosling's movies. I just don't get where this gawd stuff is coming from. Where is dude's classic? :dahell:

As for the under 40 thing, besides the two I named already: James Franco and Tom Hardy are both better. Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy are up there too.

Like it or not The Notebook is a classic and Drive his "cult" classic

I see we're using The Booth standardized measure of rating movies as well :steviej:

Like it or not The Notebook is a classic and Drive his "cult" classic

Like it or not, "Like it or not" does not magically render a statement as fact:steviej: The Notebook would much more qualify as a cult classic than Drive.

How do you rate a movie? Your own opinion or the fact that it's critically acclaimed on both RT and MC?
I'm not arguing the movie being very good. I personally think so as well. I'm arguing the extremely premature, The Booth-esque use of the word "classic". Classics have impact, classics stand the test of time, classics influence the genre and spawn trends/innovations in filmmaking. Drive was just a dope movie that's only been out for two years.

A movie can be classic by simply standing the test of time. I mean, many consider Casino Royale a classic but did it spawn trends or innovate film making? How big of an impact did it have?

I brought up the fact it's only been out two years because that's way too early to say a movie's stood the test of time.

Casino Royale rebooted an already classic series and cast a new actor in one of the most renowned roles in film. The series was getting stale and Daniel Craig came through and gave it a completely new life to the point where the series is right back to being at the top of action. The impact is definitely there and I'm not even sure I'd call it classic.
