What's the most underrated game franchise(s)?

I have never understood the degree of hate this franchise gets, when it is clearly obvious (to me at least) that a lot of effort goes into making each game a grand cinematic experience.

I remember playing Black Ops, and getting to the "Kill Castro" mission, and when its revealed you killed a body double instead, I was legit and it rivaled many of the great reveals I've gotten from movies over the years - with the exception that I myself was part of it.

You really don't know why call of duty gets so much hate?
And with it being the highest grossing shooting franchise of all time, with more than 10 installments in the past decade, I'm not sure I could call it underrated.
