when it comes to keeping the far left happy, and actually winning the electoral college, it seems that we could be looking at a tall order :ehh:

for all the talk of "needing name recognition" this year, i assume the 2028 nominee will be someone we all currently know/has already started their career in politics. so i'm genuinely curious who progressives have their eye on uniting behind in 2028

Buzz City, NC :blessed:
My ideal would be Beshear/AOC

Or a wildcard anti establishment/ reclaim positive masculinity branding for the Democratic Party, The Rock(runnning on a economic left populist platform with Elizabeth Warren or Gretchen Whitmer running as his running mate

am i the only one who thought beshear was kinda swagless? i'd never actually seen him on tv before :dead: he should use that backwater persona to go after mcconnell's seat

The Rock and Whitmer would clean up, but he would never, ever run as a Democrat under this version of the party :mjlol: unless the left is ready to make some serious concessions, culturally

the rock has more in common with jd vance than any progressive democrat

Let’s save everyone a bunch of time and just say the bulk of the thread now

Poster 1- *insert decently known politician who has a shot of getting over 75 million people to vote for them*

Poster 2- *whoever was just named* is bought and paid for by *insert evil company*, is a horrible choice and is the exact reason why the dems have lost the working class and will continue to lose elections

Poster 1- who do you think has a shot?

Poster 2- never posts again

No I called him the hall monitor for a reason. But white america loves whipping back and forth violently so it’s natural for their response to Kamala to be milquetoast white man with a Lilly white family

i'm disheartened by the lack of responses in here

sure Shapiro isn't perfect, but he's the popular, energetic, moderate governor of the most important swing state. there's no reason he wouldn't have a decent shot at the electoral college

but given that he's a CORPORATIST, CAPITALIST PIG, CENTRIST, WARLORD OF ISRAEL, i thought Pink MAGA would have hit me with at least 5 or 6 better progressive choices by now

is it possible they don't have....anyone? :lupe:

Trump ain't even in office yet, the next Dem candidate could very well be an "unknown" that rides a wave of momentum to a nomination. You'd get more engagement from just making an "I Hate The Left" thread and enjoying the circlejerk

i think it says something that progressives have such a stringent purity test, but can't name a single candidate they'd put up to win the electoral college. it speaks a lot to their lack of seriousness

we all know that if someone like shapiro gains traction, they'll start complaining about how the centrist voltron is screwing them over

Not even to be mean but have you considered that no one's gonna take the time to put thoughts to words in this thread because of your long history of missing the point and then arguing in bad faith? You're not Nap territory of do-not-engage but you've never been a poster that appreciates (or fully reads?) a well-thought out response

Have they ever put forth any candidates in any thread? It’s hard to have a good faith argument when one person has no candidate to argue on the behalf of in the first place.

It’d honestly be more respectful if people just said “you know what I have no idea” instead of shytting on other people’s ideas and then strawmanning to avoid offering their own.

On your point of an unknown earlier, underwood for example is “unknown” but that’s atleast naming somebody. Nobody has the balls to name somebody and argue on behalf of them, it’s just shytting on other people’s ideas and complaining to complain

thoughts to words? it's naming a politician :dahell: what the hell are you afraid of?

i said as a moderate, i like shapiro for 2028, and named my reasons. if that doesn't pan out, i think shapiro-adjacent is the right direction. they brought him up for kamala's VP for a reason

i would think as progressives, you have at least one politician in mind, who represents your interests, that could win the electoral college :dead:

I agree that internet discourse is at its worst point and I wont try to speak for anyone else but I feel like the times we live in people mistake critiques for conversation. A critique is a part of conversation. And here on HL its generally the same faces and the familiarity breeds contempt. Im a broken record on this shyt but its not a lot of real convos happening anymore

As far as progressives and their desires I been chilling since the election so Im not in touch with the current discourse

I answered the thread in like the 5th reply, you arent beating those not reading replies allegations:lolbron:

Most Progressives Ive met view the candidate as a vessel and the Dems who are closer to center prefer the appeal of personality. So with that said and the way we're 4 years out from the election, I don't think you're going to get too many meaningful answers right now
