haitians originate from those areas, so the practice is pretty much the same
anyway, speaking as a haitian I don't care for voodoo. as a religion I respect it, but when people are taking their sick kids to the voodoo priest instead of the real doctor, I think that's a big problem. One of the maids at my mom's house did that with her sick baby daughter, and the sickness the baby had damn near killed her. If my mom didn't step in and bring the kid to an actual doctor, the kid would've died. These voodoo priests be out out there hustlin people out their money.
