Come on. Not Last of Us. Lol

It has to be something more grand. Fantasy based with a broader appeal.

I think it would be the GOT prequel

We didn’t have anything on television like The Sopranos before it came out and we didn’t have anything like Game of Thrones before that came out. Both changed the game respectively and I expect the same for this next show. It’s gonna be something completely unexpected.

I think TLOU will be a big draw, as will the GoT prequels but I’m hesitant on believing either can be “the next big show”. TLOU could be considered “too dark” and a hard sell for the casual folks. The new GOT prequels’ politics and overall charm may not hit the same way as its successor. Who knows how fatigue will come into play by then. Those prequels will still be successful though, HBO is smart for investing in the IP.

Does it take a while to pick up or do you get hooked instantly?

For me personally I got hooked during the second half of Season 1 and def. into Season 2 was when I really got hooked.

Extremely well written show that only gets better as the seasons go on. Great writers like Matthew Weiner (who later created Mad Men) and Terence Winter worked on it.

It’s a show where it takes its time to let the stories unfold naturally to where it feels realistic and yet entertaining to watch. The ‘College’ episode in S1 is where the show started to find its identity and really took off from there. Hopefully the stretch of episodes afterwards keeps your interest because the second season is one of the best out there.

Nothing. And it’s a fool errand to try to search for one. GOT was a once in a generation phenomenon. It wasn’t just about it being great quality television, it also has that huge following in pop culture.

When the next one comes you’ll know.
The Walking Dead first 3 or 4 seasons were huge.

Not sure if we will ever see a got/bb type shyt again. Walking dead was it for a minute, while both were still on the air. Mando still has too many slow episodes within its seasons. Wandavision is only one season. Cap/WS nah....

i love better call saul but its kinda a slow burn. And not sure what the numbers on it look like. Basically, it will be awhile before there is a show that captures everything Thrones did.

:russ: Y’all gotta stop naming random shows you guys like

not denying they are good shows, but the thread is talking about the cultural impact and Mainstream appeal GOT had and nothing right now is at that level

maybe once things ramp up post covid:yeshrug:

They was saying Wandavision was the most popular show in the world. Mando gets a lot of PT as well.

Post-GOT the most popular have to be Ozark, Mando and Wanda, not really a lot of "HUGE" tv series due to streaming. I feel like "Succession" hive gonna turn the corner in season 3 and have mainstream success on par with it's critical acclaim and Stranger Things is always massive.
