We’re in a pandemic that’s why. 
So many productions have come to a halt during then and are now resuming. Even still, it might be a while before we get something like GoT that can level with the hype that show got. Mandalorian and The Boys had a lot of attention drawn to them but it still wasn’t close.

For someone who's overseas and didn't really get into series until like 2-3 years ago, I feel there's nothing with nearly as much hype as GoT.
Wandavision is a cultural phenomenon but it doesn't have the potential to snowball into what we saw with GOT.
Built in fanbase, massive amounts of source material to copy and paste from, insane budget, insane week to week buzz, theory crafting and heightened emotions (negative and positive), that might be the last time we ever see some shyt like that.
If the spin offs ever pop, the snowball gets bigger.

shyt it's seasonal anymore nowadays, especially with most of the premiere shows being shorter seasons (like 13 or less) and often more than a year between release cycles.I feel like there hasn't been a major TV show

Very little "appointment TV" nowadays with streaming being the king.

It's ashame The Expanse doesn't get that type of love. (Funny, seeing as I used to be one of the people who wrote it off)
