These days most matches happened already on weekly shows or random ppvs so the mania matches aren't really meaningful or marquee matchups. The ones they tried to do this year with taker vs aj and roman vs goldberg are a few years too late. theres not really any big match appeal unless you add wrestlers from other promotions and most of the wwe stars were already doing the indepedent scene early in their careers. all the potential marquee matchup guys are already in their late 30s or older and theres not really a young marquee guy to do the passing of the torch since they only elevated reigns and rollins and i think they've both already faced guys like brock and aj and cena. most of the roster is older guys so lets see how they treat the youth these next few years and see who steps up and gives us a marquee matchup potential.
Another reason why you say this is because WWE uses Surivor Series now as a "Brand vs Brand" ppv and thats where they use some of their dream match scenarios on ala Keith Lee vs Roman Reigns last year.
But to answer the original question. No one will recreate Rock vs Hogan. Thats truly once in a lifetime
But Cena vs Reigns should have been the 4th of the "passing the torch" matches
1st - Hogan vs Andre
2nd - Rock vs Hogan
3rd - Cena vs Rock
4th - Reigns vs Cena
They fukked up. This should've happened at Wrestlemania 34 when Reigns was coming off ending Undertaker the year before
