Had the same issue when I moved into my apartment. I had the complex spray weekly, I used Borax/water/suger (heated it, mixed it) and sprayed it on all the baseboards and where I saw them.

There’s videos on YouTube

I’ve also heard of high yield 38. It’s on amazon. People told me it’s like borax but 10 times stronger

Get a dog or cat. Don’t rats and roaches stay away if they know you have an animal?

If you stay in an apartment and never really seen them before then it’s probably your neighbors. Boric Acid is probably your best bet though . Put in along the cracks and crevices of your apartment. If you have little kids you need to sweep it into the cracks pretty well so they don’t get to it.

Above the fray.
I've written this a few times on here. If your suggestion is to use this or that product, you're giving incomplete advice.

If you want to reduce or eliminate bugs, you've go to attack the problem from multiple angles.

1. bait trap
2. place thin layer of borax along walls & corners
3. spray along exterior of house...spray vertical surfaces of the inside of house
4. clean kitchen and take trash and recyclables out EVERY night
5. fix all water leaks

I don't know why they don't get a lot of burn or hype but Roach Motels are excellent bait traps, they put an immediate dent in the bug population, and give a general idea of the size of the problem and the area where most of the bugs are coming from

use a hand duster or hand spreader to spread thin layer along horizontal surfaces near walls, in corners, behind fridge, stove, bottom of cabinets

spray Hi-Yield 38 permethrin along entire foundation of the house./ .for interior..get rubber gloves...make solution of Talstar Pro in a bucket....dip a sponge in bucket, squeeze most of the liquid out and wipe baseboards and up and down corners of walls, vertical surfaces

no reason for trash to be inside your place overnight....rinse out recyclable bottles and cans when you wash dishes, WIPE dishes after washing with paper towels..places trash and recyclables outside

Gnarly. So you want to prevent getting roaches. I'm not judging. I'm just saying, if they're there they showed up because they have a food source and somewhere to breed. You've got a nest somewhere. The longer you wait to find and destroy it the more roaches you'll get.

Call an exterminator. Don't be cheap about this shyt. You may have mice and some more shyt. Borax works, but you need to know how a roach thinks so you can locate the nest.

Roaches are hella hard to get rid of once they set up shop. They're like mice, designed to survive and they adapt very quickly. I'd consider moving or burning down your house TBH.
Lol burning the house
