Credit because of the interest rates. I owe over 5 grand because I was so stupid when I first got my credit card. My dumb azz thought that i could pay as little as I want every month

Plenty people have thousands and thousands in credit card debt.
And the question is what is more crippling. As someone who recently purchased a house, i can.tell you for a fact that having 50k in student loans is a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE from having 50k in credit card loans.
People have 800 credit scores with 100k student loan debt. Can you say the same for credit card debt? No.

This is true. You can get a house with 100k in student loan debt. You will be hard pressed to buy a house with 100k credit card debt.
Student loans debt is considered the better debt if someone is looking over your history in order for a loan.
Student loans are usually more and you can't declare bankruptcy on them. But the interest rates are usually reasonable.
So I would say credit card debt if it's high is the worst debt to have due to higher interest rates and fees associated with them. If you pay the minimum on a maxed card every month, when you add interest and fees you'll probably be close to double the principle when you finish paying it off at a constant rate.

I think the biggest issue is that student loans are incurred b/c nearly EVERYONE is pressured by society to go to college. Then once they get their degree they realize that the ROI isn't what they thought (provided that they didn't go for a lucrative field and/or didn't find a job) and are stuck with a balance that they have to pay off. Yeah, they're both voluntary, but the majority of people are brought up believing that they'll be a failure if they don't go to college. It's a vicious pipeline that benefits universities more than anything else; students get caught in the crossfire unless they absolutely have a plan going in.

Credit Card debt is a KILLER
At last student loans can be out on a nominal payment plan and just pay the minimum until you die
I know so many people that just put them on hold for ever. Its It's crazy.

Im not to sure, I’m only in my ms1 year of rotc.
I do believe that there is some loan repayment shyt that goes up to 60k, that they have going on for people who join, go through ocs and graduate and become an officer.
If there isn’t you can think about it like this:
You get free housing, allowance for food..etc. there wouldn’t be any reason for someone who is a military officer to not be able to throw 20k or something towards a student loan per year and be completely done with it within a year or two. Unless they’re a complete dumbass with their money and spend it on dumb shyt of course
