That Drake shyt is only half true, depends where you grow up. And we don't fukk with the NFL like that up here. Don't get me wrong, it's popular but not what you may think.
cfl is more popular than the nfl and gets higher ratings

CaribbeanI would just say its a black culture
You coming down here for caribana?
Trust breh its gonna be poppin as alwaysI hope so! Rolling with a couple of my boys, one got a DWI like 5 years ago. We JUST found out that Canada goes ham with DWIs and allowing folks into the country. So we're praying on we'll be straight, keep us in your prayers as well lol
It's similar but it's different in a lot of ways too
You always have to keep in mind first and foremost that Canada and the United States have two different histories, unique in their own way with very different forms of development that made both countries. That alone plays a lot into the social fabric of a country's identity.
The racism that exists in Canada is more hidden than it is in the U.S but it does exist. In Canada we have "covert-racism". If anything, the First Nations experience the most overt and systematic racism in Canada. The large number of "minorities" living in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver (not really) and maybe Ottawa. Outside of our major cities, we have a small black population in Nova Scotia that was created via the Underground Railroad in the late 1800s. However, the population of Black Canadians is just a little more than 3%. So because of this, it's very easy for the social, political, and economic aspects of society to be manipulated in a predominantly white country. Sounds familiar?
In Canada, most black Canadians associate their identity with the heritage of their parents native country but if they are born in Canada, will identify themselves very clearly as both. Usually stating: "I'm Canadian, but my parents are from *insert country here*" when asked "What are you?" which all people of color in Canada are asked at some point. No one really just says "Canadian" if you're black.
Again, keep in mind, Canada is a very young country. Our first waves of black immigration, in the hundreds of thousands, only started in the late 1970s. Most of the posters on here are second generation Canadians just experiencing "blackness" in Canada and what that means in our society. In this way, we are kind of similar to black Americans living in urban centres.
As for the bytches if you a bruh you can eat up here. Mainly because the bad bytches in a "multicultural" city is packed in density. You see all types of just beautiful women of all races walking down any street in Montreal or Toronto, hell even in Vancouver. All types of complexions bruhs.. broads from the Caribbean, soUTh aMERICA, The Middle East, the Motherland, Asia, Southeast Asia
Some bad sistas in Nova Scotia too
Low key because Canadians have consumed American media in some form almost daily their entire lives, a lot of the broads here want to fukk with brehs and are very open minded to it. I don't know what it's like bagging a broad in small town Manitoba and I would never be out there btu if you in any major city, you will be straight when it comes to the females. That's only until the fine exotic half persian, half Egyptian broad you fukking with persian daddy found out about you and he on thatBut I'm sure that exists everywhere. Sound familiar again?
In school.. we mostly play basketball, hockey, baseball and football. Some soccer too. But everyone knows Canada is a hockey country, although we have been producing some talent in basketball lately and we've always had some pretty decent baseball players for a small country. We don't have a strong football culture here even though we do follow the NFL and some Canadians, mostly in western Canada, follow the CFL. I played mostly basketball, hockey and football growing up and played in various leagues. A lot of young bruhs are getting into hockey and we have a few young star black Canadian prospects and that's cool to see in a predominantly white sport. Cacs low key hate it too
As for the middle class.. we don't have a strong black middle class just as yet because as stated earlier, the first generation just gained some footing themselves. If one does it exist, it would be in Ajax, Brampton or Pickering (in the GTA, just outside Toronto).
So are they similar to black people in nyc (if you have ever been)?
Granted i only spent 3 days in Canada last year but it felt like hip hop > dancehall or soca and basketball >
Been there a few times, I have alot of aunts, uncles, and cousins in NY, mainly Brooklyn. Alot of them are planning to move though, they say all the gentrification has made it too expensive.
Well damn some good info to keep in mindIt's similar but it's different in a lot of ways too

You will enjoy the pawgs here breh
Canadians like to troll me.@Canadadry some input pls
Ny is expensive even in the areas not being gentrificationBeen there a few times, I have alot of aunts, uncles, and cousins in NY, mainly Brooklyn. Alot of them are planning to move though, they say all the gentrification has made it too expensive.
Cool, i understand since my parents and my hood are Jamaican. The thing is we get a lot of American TV stations up here, so if you are born in Canada you will be drawn more to hip-hop, American entertainment, Hell I know more about American politics than Canadian. But our parent bring their own culture to this country so you get a mixed influence.
preston nova scotia
Preston has the largest percentage of black people of any area in Canada; 69.4% of its population is black
North Preston has a population of nearly 4000 people (census 2010). The community is populated primarily by African Canadians. North Preston is the oldest and largest indigenous Black community in Canada, as well as having the highest concentration of African Canadians across Canada.
Ok but the AA/American influence is bigger than what yall admitting though based on my observations. Yall actin like your entire culture & identity imported from the country of your parents when clearly it is not. Hiphop is more popular than dancehall, basketball is more popular than soccer etcNo one is lying, why the hell do you think caribana is in toronto and over a million people show up and its majority black. Canadians rep their ethnicity jamaican etc. before anythign glese
