Trying to figure out whether or not Slim was "running the co-op" is kind of a waste of time because the scene is so ambiguous. IMO whether or not he was running the co-op is irrelevant because he was there with the Greek, so at the very least he had a direct line to "the connect", same as Marlo did, and Prop Joe before him.

Fred.

Wiki says Slim Charles and Fat Face Rick became the new leaders but, as you said, it's pointless as the show never went deeper into it.

Yeah that was his name, Fat Face Rick. I wanted to mention who was sitting there with Slim but I couldn't remember his name.

If that's a waste of time, then the whole thread is a waste of time. The show been off since 2008 and was a complete work of fiction. Everything touched on in this thread from why so and so snitched, who was realistic, or what a character's motivation was is all subject to speculation by every poster. None of us are right or absolute here about anything. I based my speculation on Slim 'running the co-op at the end' on dialogue from his own mouth and the way the character carried himself. Disagree if you want, but don't tell me what's a waste of my time.

False. The series was on for 5 seasons, so there is enough scenes, dialogue, character development, story arcs, etc. to have an educated opinion about anything else being discussed in the thread.

The question of "did Slim become the boss/run the co-op/whatever" is a waste of time because the scene with the Greek and Fat Face Rick is literally 10 seconds long, and there was no context to what we were seeing, regardless of what Slim Charles said earlier in the series.

Wiki? You mean the site that anyone can edit? I mean it's cool if yall wanna think Slim was running shyt since everyone is familiar with him, but I don't think the character had the smarts or business savvy to run a multi million dollar business like that. Especially 1 that's tryna be low key. nikkas gotta die? Call Slim. Setting prices and expanding markets? Slim? :patrice:

You are pretty full of yourself when it comes to this Wire shyt huh? I'ma need you to stop pretending to be a be all end all authority about this. How are you gonna say this:

The series was on for 5 seasons, so there is enough scenes, dialogue, character development, story arcs, etc. to have an educated opinion about anything else being discussed in the thread

But exclude speculation on Slims role post series........because YOU think it's irrelevant?? Like you said, there is plenty to go on to speculate on Slim's role AND I posted examples every time I commented on the subject. And there is context to the scene: Marlo told them he would sell them the connect. They proceeded to pool money to buy said connect. Then we see them talking to said connect. And Finally and most importantly. STFU. Fake ass "Wire intellectual" tryna regulate the convo. :childplease:

Marlo sold the connect to the Co-Op. The end scene shows Slim & Fat Face Rick meeting with the Greeks..It's not rocket science here brehs. Slim ended up becoming a boss at the end. Why is that so hard to understand :why:

Slim didn't want to be a boss but since Avon is in prison, prop joe got smoked, and Marlo left the game, he had no choice. But to be real, he probably isn't the top boss because if you remember the last time we see the CO-OP they were all trying to be equal partners in order to get the 10 million to pay Marlo for the line to the connect. They probably elected Slim and Fat Face Rick because they were senior members and Slim was right under Prop Joe so the Greeks at least MIGHT know him from the meetings with Joe.

:whoa: at people saying Mouzone is based on people. I'm sure he is, that doesn't make him any more realistic.

Omar was based on people too, but nobody is gonna walk down the street 1 deep with one gun scaring whole blocks.

As much as people say "The Wire" was realistic, there was a ton of shyt that wasn't. By David Simon's own admission the series is a modern day Greek tragedy, with the city of Baltimore being "the gods" fukking people's lives up not out of spite or malice....but out of indifference.

That's also why you have larger than life character like Mouzone and Omar. And Chris and Snoop, who are basically the personification of death.

There's a scene in S1 where Bay picks up Avon from this girl Avon is fukking's house. Avon told Bay to come back later and take all the phone lines out her crib. Bay is like "I don't know man, shorty gonna trip..." Bay was still talking but Avon gave him a look that said "why da fukk you still talking and what the fukk did I say?" Bay caught it and tightened right the fukk up. He shut down a killer with a look. What's that say about Avon?
