The reason this is coming up today is because I just saw this post on IG saying that there's been some talk of Dr Strange becoming the New face of the MCU going fwd.

Dude then says he wishes it was Thor. And I got to thinking like :jbhmm: it really should be Thor.

Obviously they were gonna have the new face be Tchalla initially but it just wasn't to be (RIP Chad).

But if they are looking for a new face, why not Thor?

Then I thought about it. Oh yeah that's right, can't do that cause they made him an obese buffoon in Endgame:hhh:

Then I started thinking more... what was even the point of that?:mjtf: What did him being fat actually do for the movie? :what:

Just more meaningless Marvel jokes and silliness for no reason huh @Bryan Danielson :unimpressed:

Dude lost everything and had nothing else going for him for months.

Then after he cut Thanos head off, it was too late, it changed absolutely nothing and he had nothing going on for him for the next 5 years.

Who are you to tell him how to deal with his trauma :francis:

Thor arguably experienced the most trauma out of every in the MCU and he deals with it the best way he could but you over there making fun of him.:stopitslime:

Dam. If you look at his entire trilogy arc he lost his entire family his homeworld, had Heimdall and Loki killed in front of him while he couldn't do anything, Thanos blew up that ship so like a percentage of the Asgardians was killed in space, then when he finally puts his shiny new axe into Thanos he loses again when another half of life is snapped away in front of him... He even said it in the trailer he watched all those people die in front of him. That shyt would drive anyone into depression. All of them was mentally fukked up in endgame :francis:

I always thought Fat Thor was corny as hell. I get what they were going for but it took the character development he had in "IW" and squandered it on cheap laughs.

Regardless, the direction they were taking the character (comic relief) even before the Fat Thor thing....doesn't lend itself to him being the new "face" of the MCU.
Tony Stark was a funny dude but you never got the vibe he was a clown. The same can't be said for Thor. :francis:

Anyway. Dr. Strange is dope as fukk and any scene with him has some of the best visuals of the entire MCU. Hell, of movies in general these days.

So they could do a lot worse than using him.

Fred.

Strange will probably be quarterback of the multiverse.
Thor would probably be the quarterback of the cosmic side.
I don't know who would be the QB for the street side/low level/Hawkeye level shyt.

I'm wondering if horror side of the MCU will be rolled into one of the other branches.
I don't see the MCU doing another Endgame level event where the entire MCU converges into one storyline.

It displayed how depressed he was for failing to save everyone in IW. The scene where he kills Thanos and then he initially refused to help with the time heist were well acted and showed the characters depression as well.

You know...I'd be fine with all of that of they didn't make his weight a joke the whole film.

Yeah, they should have made it deathly serious like a Nolan movie. When someone made a Fat joke Valkerie should have chimed in and told them the damage ridicule can truly do and made it a teachable moment for the character she was responding to as well as the audience. :mjlol:

Thor’s physicality is one of his biggest attributes. I think him putting on weight is one of the easiest way to display his depression. There are going to be people who didn’t see all his films, so I guess the Russos went with show than tell even if they explained it.

Now, it would have been corny if he lost all the weight magically before the fight at the end.

Depression is never funny yet Endgame throughout the film made it just that:rudy:
