What was the most disappointing thing about Dragonball Z?

How so many characters fall to the wayside and get phased out because of the power scaling. One thing One Piece does a great job at is finding something for everybody to do, while DBZ so many folks fall off the face of the Earth

They didn't allow Adult Gohan to swag out.

Akira Toriyama wanted to end the series with Gohan defeating Buu. But the fans bytched about it so he brought Goku back.

fukk the fans. Toriyama shouldn't stuck to his vision
This is one of the most often-cited fandom myths but it's not true. Toriyama decided that himself because he didn't think Gohan's character was suitable as a hero. He said nothing about the fans steering him that way.

The human characters never found the Dragon Balls and wished 2 make themselves as strong as the saiyans.

No real out thinking the antagonist just having some convoluted way of becoming stronger to defeat them.
Man if you don't get the fukk...:scust:

That misses the ENTIRE point of the show man

Lack of an actual adventure
Ehh I wouldnt say that's a flaw

Dragonball ain't One piece where it hyped itself and presented itself as adventure series.

The only adventure they had was to find the Dragonball balls and that's it. Once that happen first arc only thing Akira could have done was make it a action series.

One way or another Toriyama threw away dope/interesting characters all in the name of "the strongest warrior" Bs

Whats the intrinsic difference between Goku going in a hyperbolic 100x gravity roshis island we ran out of ideas so we insert hastily made up locale for Goku 2 ascend 2 the next level, and the humans simply finding the balls to level up. Both are sloppy writing and easy ways out narrative wise

This. DBZ had a bad habit of wasting a lot of characters in general.
F3cKlOE.jpg

That colorful cast :wow:

More specifially to Z, too many characters didn't get to shine enough. In a series like Yu Yu Hakusho, they only had a squad of 4 dudes, but all of them got down. Kuwabara :salute:
In One Piece, all of the characters get classic fights. Zoro will go full :demonic: on opponents. Nico Robin will snap people's bones on some :birdman: type stuff. Usopp is basically the guy that starts off useless, but steps up and comes through at the very end.

I feel like DBZ wastes a lot of potential-- Gohan was done dirty, Piccolo was relegated to babysitter status post-Cell, and the humans like Krillin and Tien got left in the dust. Yamcha never even had a chance. ...and dare I say it?
Even the prince of all saiyans deserved more than he got. Goku and Trunks both got to demolish Frieza, Vegeta's turn should have been next (and I don't even mess with Vegeta like that post-Frieza saga).
What's funny is on the other side of the spectrum u have Bleach

Which ignores its main cast and pays attention to much to its side characters

Kenpachi had more fights in the final arc than Ichigo did:pachaha:

This is the phuccery that pisses me off

:mjlol:This nikka Tien created damn near every GOAT technique that all bilut Piccolo and Vegeta used. Even those 2 you have 2 put an asterisk next 2, their rejection of his attacks are due 2 their immediate alien heritage and inability 2 relate 2 humans/earth warriors thus embracing their own.

:mjlol:Every1 close 2 Tien bit his shyt

Yeah, Tien came through with flight, the multiform technique, solar flare, dodon ray, tri-beam, etc. Especially the solar flare, the rest of the fighters bit that move HARD.

Come to think of it, all Goku really did was bite in terms of techniques. Piccolo still held it down with the special beam cannon (he also invented the masenko IIRC), and even Krillin invented the destructo disc and that scattershot technique that he bodied all the Saibamen with.

You got a point now that I think of it. :patrice:

Kamehameha was Master Roshi's move. Spirit Bomb and Kaioken were King Kai's. Instant Transmission was something Goku learned from some aliens on Yardrat or whatever. I can't think of anything offhand that Goku actually created himself.

Maybe you could say SSJ3 but that's more of a transformation than a technique.

on the topic of techniques and shyt they havin ^^^^^ I started to dislike how the fighting was

how in Dragonball their was no diversity in fighting style to many characters had the exact same skill pallet.

Gohan had no more up his sleeve than Vegeta

they both punch, kick, fly, energy blast, etc

Goku was becoming just Intstant Transmission and Kamehameha.

Whats funny is that the human characters that were to weak had the versatility and unique fighting abilties

Tien- Cloning ,tri beams, finger beams, solar flare

Krillin: destructo disk

Yamcha: spirit ball ,wolf fang
