What was the most disappointing thing about Dragonball Z?

basically, honestly im ok with goku being stronger then vegeta
my biggesit issue is tori never gave vegeta a proper kill...hes a full blood sayain for crying out loud
all would of been forgiven if he let vegeta get a kill in a movie even if it aint cannon

Akira Toriyama wanted to end the series with Gohan defeating Buu. But the fans bytched about it so he brought Goku back.

How the story in general just fell off after the Android saga. I wished toriyama was like Oda with his story telling. A lot of characters in Z never got a proper backstory and their motivations were very weak. I dunno I feel like DBZ should of taken things from one piece or even HXH on how to balance story, fights, and power levels.

I loved Dragon Ball, all of it. Going into Z and not seeing martial arts and instead power ups and blasts were tiresome.

Only when Kakarot fought Cell did we get to see some top notch hand to hand fighting.

This. DBZ had a bad habit of wasting a lot of characters in general.

More specifially to Z, too many characters didn't get to shine enough. In a series like Yu Yu Hakusho, they only had a squad of 4 dudes, but all of them got down. Kuwabara
In One Piece, all of the characters get classic fights. Zoro will go full on opponents. Nico Robin will snap people's bones on some type stuff. Usopp is basically the guy that starts off useless, but steps up and comes through at the very end.

I feel like DBZ wastes a lot of potential-- Gohan was done dirty, Piccolo was relegated to babysitter status post-Cell, and the humans like Krillin and Tien got left in the dust. Yamcha never even had a chance. ...and dare I say it?
Even the prince of all saiyans deserved more than he got. Goku and Trunks both got to demolish Frieza, Vegeta's turn should have been next (and I don't even mess with Vegeta like that post-Frieza saga).

Gohan getting watered down after the Cell saga.

Yup, what they did to Gohan ruined the show for me. It was clearly building to him taking over as the lead character, but they (stupidly) went back to Goku being the savior. The shyt with Goku just got old.

It's funny, Vegeta constantly taking L's was one of my favorite things about the show. He'd talk SO much shyt when he had an advantage, but as soon as someone else was just a bit more powerful he'd get scared and start crying like a bytch. What made it even funnier to me was how Vegeta stans always ignored and caped for his blatant bytchassness.......

But after Ressurection F even I was like they didn't have to do homie like that, they could have let him get that win against the dude that killed his Dad, destroyed his planet, and probably molested him (we all know Frieza was a pedo).
