What was the last good main event title run in WWE?

Neither of AJ's title runs have been good.

The first one spent way the fukk too much time on James Ellsworth, and the current one has not had one meaningful feud. The Shinsuke feud got cartoonishly stupid with all the nut shots, the Joe feud downplayed the history they have together to spend more time on AJ's wife, and the Bryan feud never got off the ground.

It was CM Punk's run but it had a lot of nice moments

No it wasn’t. I’m not sure he had a single clean defense. In fact he lost I think 72% of his matches during his run with the belt. He even lost to J&J security. Every heel they book as champ has a JBL style reign designed to nuke their credibility and they’re usually little more than food for Roman or Cena. Their faces either get the 2005 Cena run where everything that got them over is stripped away while they’re force fed to the crowd or the Punk/AJ treatment where they don’t work in the main event under any circumstances even when they’re the champ, therefore devaluing the title. Been that way for ages. In fact I can’t recall any off the top of my head after Eddie and Benoit in 2004 or Batista in 2005 that didn’t suffer from any of these problems. Maybe the runs that Edge and Jericho both had with the big gold belt in 2008?

Jeff didn’t have a run last more than a month. His first win came at Armageddon 2008 and he lost it at the 2009 royal rumble. He won it again at judgement day 2009 and punk cashed in on him right away. Then he won it at vengeance and lost it at summerslam. I’m not sure he ever successfully defended the title. Age of Orton had the bs finish with Jericho at Armageddon 2007, but he might’ve had decent finishes at the survivor series and royal rumble. Can’t really recall. He was booked to look vastly inferior to cena at no way out and wrestlemania though.
