What was the hype like when PS3 & 360 was first announced?

I remember when it came out, the ps3 had that weird looking contoler and every talked about the font being the same as the spiderman movie's font.

I quit gaming at the time so i wasn't as interested as i was before but i still remember.

But i can't recall anyone discussing it and how hype they was to get it..

I do remember the core and pro xbox bundle though.

I was 16 when PS3 launched and I didn't really care about it. I was still off a modded PS2 and Gamecube and then I copped that Nintendo Wii right after and threw the PS2 in the bushes. I copped a 360 around the time Halo 3 dropped. I wasn't even interested in PS3 until 2010 when FFXIII dropped and MGS4 had come out.

nikkas was dead on PS3 until I saw $600 fukking bucks for only 60GB of storage. nikkas thought Blu-discs was the savior for system.

I had PS2 through high school and then added Xbox in early '04 right before college.

Distinctly remember ALL my homies upgraded to Xbox 360.

People forget that the PS2 came out in October 2000 and the PS3 wasn't launched until November 2006.

Original Xbox came out like 13 months after PS2 but 360 came out a full year before PS3......the PS2 was so damn popular that Sony probably wasn't in a big rush with PS3....while Microsoft knew they needed to get the jump for the next generation.

I waited until like 2008 to cop and decided on the fat PS3. Everyone I knew that got 360 ended up with RROD at least 2x. My PS3 still works to this day and is in good shape. 360 definitely won early but I think PS3 ended up catching them in sales by the end of the generation.

Microsoft has been trying to recreate that magic from 2005/2006 but a lot of that was them have strong games and getting a huge headstart.....plus the price of PS3 keeping people away. Also think PS3 wasn't as easy to develop for as PS2 and it took time for studios to figure it out.

I remember people BBQing and throwing the football to wait for the 360 to drop at 10am the next day. That was when I was drove the Best Buy at 8pm.

I saw a small line at target a few miles down. Stood in line for 2 minutes and told myself “the fukk is you doing?” Then went the fukk home.
