He's A Good Man
it felt too forced to me. i lost interest and didnt watch wrestling again until 2009 (bad time to jump back in).
Anybody go to any shows in person then?
I was at Raw the night DX invaded WCW.
I was in elementary school during the Attitude era and EVERYBODY was watching that shyt. And they were still selling tons of toys. Kids were watching it for sure. That's why those guys still carry heavy nostalgia.I was around 12-15 at the time.
The biggest thing was that it was just really cool in terms of pop culture appeal. Before, wrestling was a bit of this niche, hush hush thing you were into. Suddenly, even the popular guys/gals were into it. It just felt very hip in terms of where pop culture was at the time.
When a house show came to my dinky town, practically my entire school went. Crowd was amped. Kids were doing the DX chops etc. Even at a Raw taping in 97 , the crowd was insanely hot. Tons of midcard guys were getting pops that top guys today would kill for.
I always found out funny how Vince was trying to pretend kids weren't watching, that it was all 18-35 year olds.
those signs used to say whatever...all types of profanityAnother thing from AE that missing today
Not only crowd signs, but creative ones. Other than WM, I feel like crowd signs have gradually been micromanaged out of the WWE, and it may have started way after Attitude. May have been the start of PG or something. They practically give you the signs they want you to have
shyt, my introduction to wrestling was seeing Stone Cold on Celebrity Deathmatch and then my dad hyping up Stone Cold and The Rockthe craziest thing about that time was the cultural relevance.
news, radio, school or wherever everybody would talkin about wwf
i remember my grade school teachers making wrestling references. like it was fully ingrained in society. shyt was wild
It was a glorious time.....Godfather and Rikishi were so over..Jericho's debut...Lita was on fire...Benoit almost never lost unless it was Rock/Austin/Cripple H/Jericho....Trish was getting booed for putting clothes on...shyt was lit. I was fortunate enough to witness Rock and Austin at their peaks during that era. shyt was must see TV
