Bringing this one back like a rental because sometimes you need to ask yourself:

"What the F am I still doing driving a cab?"

Reality check and public statement: I'm gonna post less and create more content. First update tomorrow.

Be your own Vincent in order to bish slap your own Max into action and not buying the dream he's busy selling himself.

Can you believe the year was new when I posted this and now we've half left? That is wild, don't you think? Feels like a moment. A blink.

I've been driving a cab for a minute and just realized I'm Vincent so what the hell am I doing so thought I'd bring it back in case anyone else fell into the trap of low effort.

Yep. Made progress in the gym, but I have to push harder on my career change

That really is a huge part of it, isn't it?

The brain is so sneaky and deceptive with its laziness, especially when it knows you're seeking across the board wins. It will let you ace a couple of things then flood you with feel good chemicals that say "Chill yayo, you got this!" in order to induce conservation and next thing you know you've made procrastination your tagline and are no longer keep your optics in focus.

Sneaky, sneaky.

Read something years ago about social media, and announcing your plans or goals, whatever, and how that can be counter to the actual goal

the logic was every time you post about "starting new company" or "hitting the gym hard", and then get flooded with likes and motivational quotes from people, you get the same rewards in your brain as if you had actually done something, once you get the rewards you tend to slack a little, because you already have them

This was in the heat of Instagram/Facebook, 2014 or so, and I saw some of my boys do this, where they would post all these flattering stories about businesses they were running, or announcements "BIG YEAR" and none of it was what it seemed.

This is not about anyone on here, just in general, something I keep in mind

something I keep in mind

I was 100% on the "Don't speak about it, be about it" thing but then I tried this experiment:

And thank to the Coli fam I hit my targets when I'd been neglecting my site so its all about if you're doing it to do as a man of your word or stunting for the moment in the midst of strangers who wont check you if you're slipping.

Thats why communities like this are so much better than the socialist medes as there is more realness here and far more genuine engagement. Try it yourself and see what happens if there is somewhere you've been slacking.

totally agree. I don't think you should never talk about goals, just awareness of how that kind of feedback loop gets formed. Goals is not how I frame things mostly, but progress is what I try for, to be better than I was.

I would rather talk when I am done, so I have the full scope, but consequently, I am not a great self promoter, and I prefer things to just speak for themselves.

I do an exercise where I think back, 10, or 15, 20 years, and just chart my progress, or lack of, to keep your perspective sharp. Like where was I,
in life, June 1st, 12 years ago? I do this when i can't sleep sometimes.

That is a very dope technique. Its why you tend to do the best work with your back against the wall as you give it your all.

The key is building that internally motivated state and in that case things like the thread are great for starting as you're accountable to your (digital) peers. You've said it, now you've got to make it happen. I'm pretty certain that everyone on here that wants to do something but isn't could use the same format and it'll be on in no time because of how well it works.
