Yep. I was a little too young to appreciate it initially, but this scene definitely shook me.

Sometimes art can force you to be introspective and take a hard look at yourself.

Watched this movie when I got a little older and that shyt was a kick in the chest.

My aunt looked me dead in the eye and said “The worst thing is to be an old person with regrets. If you have a dream, goal, etc put in the work and accomplish it”. :wow:
nikkas say this but then go straight back to posting on the coli or watching tik tok

Are you Vincent or are you Max? Are you selling yourself dreams then lining up to buy them as you hide from the life you want but are afraid to live because, deep down, you don't feel you deserve it or are you doing what needs to be done, in the moment, one foot in front of the next with fixed intent and goals which keep you rolling.

Quite possibly one of, if not the, most important movie scenes ever released as it contains so much Game for those willing to challenge themselves.

What the F are you still doing driving a cab?

I have this video downloaded as an mp3 and listen to it everyday. :wow:

“It never happened and it never will because you were never going to do it anyway” :wow:

Imagine if you made that the main code of your wetware operating system. How quickly the rest of the crap would vanish into the distance as you knew what you wanted and set the stage so you could get it and would be so happy in the accomplishment you wouldn't need distractions or recognition as you'd be the living embodiment of actualization.

The hardest lies to spot are the ones we tell ourselves as we find an eager audience who never questions the fable. It why I constantly kick knowledge like this:

And say we should use each other to hold ourselves accountable:

Community is a hugely powerful thing when it comes to motivation, way more than the socials with their fronting so everyone should get up on it and ban bet themselves with a challenge to make it happen.

You are right.

And those ppl can look at their lives in 1, 2, 10yrs and either be happy with their decisions or have regrets. 🤷🏾‍♀️

We all can be lying or telling the truth. What’s important is, there is a real message being disseminated in here. Whoever takes heed might actually have a decent life when it’s all said and done.

I know I posted in another thread about this, but I say this part to myself every time I get someone number, and even think about hesitating

"and that girl, you can't even call that girl" and I always text lol

"most people, same job, same routine, just keeping it safe, you don't even know where you'll be 10 minutes from now"

"zone out in your barco lounger, being hypnotized by day time tv"

This movie stunned me when I saw it by myself way back in 2004, as a teenager.

Michael Mann dropped some serious knowledge for those who open to the message.

This is an actual quote from Mann, from an interview last year summer in the TImes

When Mann makes movies about visionary criminals, they offer him a means not only to tell lurid tales of ambition but also to learn about, and map, self-obscuring networks that govern the visible world.

I put a version of this to him at lunch, and he tilted in his seat, thinking for a moment. “If someone asked me, ‘Michael, take a look at your work and tell me, is there any common characteristic across your main characters?’ I don’t think about it this way, but I’d say, ‘They’re truly conscious,’” he replied. “They’re not just walking through life as automatons.”

He went on: “I’m not interested in people with their eyes glazed over, living life in a BarcaLounger, watching daytime TV, and they realize at a certain point, Oh, everything I was going to do, it’s too late to do, so I’m going to drift into whatever hellish human condition that is.” He smiled. “Those aren’t interesting characters to me.”
