which solo rapper made a whole song and video dedicated to uniting Crips and Bloods again? Which rapper from NY came out first before his man Tru Life came out and spoke out against the Bloods and Crips epidemic that spread in NYC and still stands by that till this day? Which rapper actually shot people and did years in prison only to dedicate their debut album to denouncing the street influence and prison? Which rapper was put on the shelf by a major label because he refused to make negative music and then wouldnt budge to change his music because he really believed in the message so he lost the deal and chose a more independent route even tho the budget wasnt the same just for the sake of getting the positive message out? Which rapper will big up a industry friend like Kanye and then turn around and point out that what him and Kim K is doing is a fake and only for publicity and say that because its the turth regardless if Kanye is his friend?

I dont see any rappers doing what Saigon does....But i'll let u tell it.

Which rapper isn't heard when they do or say any of this shyt:manny:...if the nikka got principles and ain't willing to compromise to have his music heard by the masses that's good for him....but why does he and you complain when the masses don't hear him....you both know how the game works...its been this way for about 20 yrs now lol....very few nikkas break thru without compromising and if they do they usually end up comprimising eventually....the ones who do don't do it with help of label dollars for payola and promotion....they get theyself hot

Yep...two people from different parts of hiphop hooking up to do an entire album together....not just some bullshyt single. Wish we would get more albums with just one MC and one producer. Always gives the shyt a much more cohesive feel, like an actual album. So many albums today just sound like a bunch of random singles thrown together or sound like a mixtape.

again...can the album be important if nobody heard it?...or if it didn't really make an impact in hip-hop?

To me the last important MC that came out is Kanye West...the way he came into the game and how it made a HUGE impact in less then a decade is pretty crazy..and IMO he has LET to release a bad album.

Now IMO the last important album/mixtape are debateable...

when it comes to mixtapes I would go for So Far Gone. So Far Gone redefined what a mixtape is. Pretty much laid the blueprint on how to get put on by releasing album quality good music for FREE, and then create a GIANT buzz. Because of the success of So Far Gone, that lead to Section 80, House Of Balloons, K.R.I.T Was Here, 1999, etc..it lead to a new generation of new rappers.

When it comes to albums..Its debatable..In my opinion its Watch The Throne and/or Distant Relatives.

I don't hear it
J. Cole is a no brainer. He sampled part of the album on HiiiPower. Kanye's no doubt one of his faves and plays a big role in his production style on that album. Wiz is probably a reach but it just seems to me that he took alot of Kanye's Stadium status type songs and tried to make it his own. Drake is easy, he's been on Kanye since 808's and took it a step further. Blame Game and Marvin's Room and just the overall feel of Take Care sounds like that was what he was going for.

them nikkas albums had NO influence on Ye's last album..:leostare:
Think you mean it the other way around or am I confused :merchant:

Yeah anyway MBDTF is the answer. Gave the formula to the beast that was Watch The Throne, brought Nikki to the forefront, re-established Pusha T, and brought this new opera type feel that these rap albums are coming with. Section. 80 was better to me but it wasn't as mainstream. But Kendrick is without a doubt the most important new rapper.

MBDTF is actually Kanye's least impactful album. It's a borderline flop too. There are ZERO hits on it. Zero. You can crowbar all of the lights or a popular album cut into a Ye set if you must but we ALL KNOW that WTT got Kanye his commercial swagger back....and he did what....2 beats? and wrote....no rhymes?

fukk Kanye West.

Distant Relatives

Deep and methodical with a powerful message in nearly every track. Also, any track off it could have been a hot single.

Shame it got almost no play and was largely ignored...I wonder why...not really, we know why.
