Taken from the homie fukkyalifestyle’s interview with Ice-T (which is a great read, by the way, check it out)….these are Ice-T’s words, not mine:

Ice-T said:
We have to realize hip-hop helped get Obama elected. Why don't you ask your readers what's the last important rap album ... with "important" being the word. Then, ask whose the last important MC? We want to lean towards saying and doing more things that are "important."

So what’s the last important rap album? Who’s the last important MC?

How are you defining “important”?

Saigon and his album Greatest Story Never Told....Saigon is the only rapper out now who's street cerrtified yet he denounces the street life and tries to enlighten using music. This man made a song trying to unite Bloods and Crips and it caught the attention of Tookie Williams before his execution. This man has a website dedicated to political awarness that no one is paying attention to because his target audeince is more focused on what Worldstar has to offer. This is also a man who dedicated a whole movement to helping childern who are left behind due to their parents incarceration. I cant think of one rapper in this day and time who has mainstream potential as well as music with substance and skills. One thing I will never uunderstand is all these cats who scream 2Pac is the best yet Pac is dead and here u have a new version of Pac in Saigon with an updated message for our time yet he's still slept on.

Deep and methodical with a powerful message in nearly every track. Also, any track off it could have been a hot single.

Shame it got almost no play and was largely ignored...I wonder why...not really, we know why.

I'll also co sign that Distiant Relatives album.....That last Nas album was very important as well.

Dude...Pac is dead. Before Pac left he said that we arent ready for a Black president. His message isnt updated. You cant go foward using out of date information. Pac doesnt have any messages for this current era we are in where we do have a Black president. Saigon and Nas on the other hand are alive and are qualified to make quality albums with substance for the masses of today.

Plies before the commercial success...I define importance as potential to change the game, the movement in the streets, how powerful the content is,if u bringin a new perspective and voice to the game....let's face facts the movement shoulda been scary,we shoulda had nikkas makin hard music full of street shyt as well as the cautionary side, music with a message...too bad Shawty blew up,there wuz no turnin back.:manny:

dude what does pac not being here have anything to do with the fact that saigon is not pac second when pac said that at the time which 1991 or 1992 the world was not ready for a black president. and he was right back then so everything u saying is not only irrelevant but does not make any sense with that said shut the fukk up !!!!!
