Plies is low key mocking the hood in his music. His real speaking voice is nothing like his music or ig persona . "100 Years" is some of the most powerful shyt I've heard, when Plies gets in his social commentary bag it comes off more sincere and heartfelt than a lot of rappers who present themselves as cultured and well read, that's the same for a lot of these "ignant" dudes when they decide to speak on real shyt. As for him being a persona, if Jadakiss can spit his coke ducktales knowing his pops was a corporate six figure breh then I can listen to Plies just fine, majority of these dudes aren't who they claim to be anyway.
