We can't have this post without mentioning Ice Cube and Ghostface.

If you listen to Ice Cube's first 3 projects he pretty much covers the plight of a young Black male in America from an underprivileged area, even if he wasn't necessarily underprivileged himself. Everything he talked about would end up being relevant to my life in some way. He started dumbing down on "Predator", then just seemed to run out of creative inspiration after that.

Ghost's falloff is just uncomfortable to talk about, I tend to ignore a lot of his newer music in order to preserve the image in my mind.

Prodigy and Wayne are good choices though.
So you never listened after predator basically... because that's not true.

Ghost hasn't made a focused album in years but he has a gem in sour soul that is slept on which is vintage ghost. showed me he can do it when inspired.

NORE recently spoke on doing a CNN war report doc and addressing the fact that he's mad tragedy let the wrote his rhymes lie run for years. So I would say NO to your statement
I’m not claiming Tragedy wrote all Nores nursery rhymes, I’m highlighting the fact that he clearly coached Nore and without a doubt is responsible for the content/heft of his earlier material. He left Tragedy and started clowning being God body when previously that was all he talked about. Then switched to rhyming about cocker spaniels.

P was still putting out good music though. Sometimes that non-rapping shyt works....

Same reason why Westside Gunn can sometimes outshine Benny and Conway. They spitting with technical proficiency and he just rambles about Gucci and adds machine gun sound effects. But he makes it sound ill.
And I know this post excuses mumble rap :snoop:

Bro, I love P and he's one of my favorite rappers of all time but let's be real, the main reason his post Murda Muzik work was dope is Alchemist's production. He was not even nowhere remotely as good as he was in the first 3 Mobb albums.

He had an ill nonchalant delivery. Return of The Mack wasnt even close to Al's best production and P made it a memorable record. Still very well produced obviously. Albert Einstein on the other hand, that was all Alchemist :wow::wow::wow:

All I know is Royce has had the biggest improvement. He was always nice but now he's breathing rarefied air.

I really want to say Jay-z but I know that won't fly, lol. To me 1996-1997 is the most skilled, complete MC ever in rap, he was an alien...post-98 Jay-z has had his moments but he is nowhere near the caliber he was spittin wise, imo.
This track right here - a '97 loosie - is probably the greatest display of absolute peak Jay-Z - lyricism, flow, everything:

Noreaga from the war report to N.O.R.E.

Prodigy was just talking on beats by the end honestly

Kurupt was never that good. If he didn't roll with death row he would have been written off as a lyrical miracle ass LA rapper

Wayne was always trash

Cam doesn't take rap seriously. Doesn't pay his bills anymore. Hes basically rapping for fun now

Kurupt was never that good? Get the fukk out of here.

Definitely Prodigy when Jay made him so mad he forgot how to rhyme words for 5 years.

Dom RUINED this fukking track :scust:

I never heard of or listened to Dom before this song. Wasn’t even a Dza fan to be honest, but Pete Rock producing made me check for it

I like Dza’s part but the hook and Dom are actually the highlights of the song for me

it’s actually probably one of my favorite songs of the past few years actually and his verse ends it perfectly
