They got lucky there weren't many great black stars in this era. The era before Messi/Ronaldo was much better. You had all-time greats like Zidane, OG Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Henry, Eto', etc. That was a much better generation of soccer players. This era right now is weak and has made those two cacs seem better than they really are.

Kylian Mpabbe will be better than both. He's more talented than Messi and Cristiano.

Neither of them are the best ever. They are both behind Zidane. France hasn't been the same since the guy retired. They actually had to drag him out of retirement just to qualify for a World Cup and he took them all the way to the Finals. Dismantled Brazil almost singlehandedly. The man was practically ambling across the pitch and you couldn't take the ball off of him. Plus he has both Euro and World Cup winner credits to his name.

Ronaldo seems to have surpassed Messi in the past couple of years though.

Agreed. Zidane was amazing. Right there with OG Ronaldo and Ronaldinho as the best. All 3 of those guys are way better than Messi and Cristiano. Way better.

I watch the world cup but that's about it. Since Didier Drogba left Chelsea I haven't had a player worth following in club soccer.

Kylian Mbappe got me intrigued right now. If he balls out at the world cup, he could be the player that gets me watching soccer on the regular again.
