really?? thought it was Icelandic....?? all the same i can believe it.

Not too sure about Icelandic, to be honest. I know of a few people in the linguistics field and they've all agreed on Finnish being a motherfukker.

I have many Finnish friends, and strangely enough, just listening to the language it doesn't "seem" like it'd be that bad to learn, but eh... I'll take the word of the professionals on the matter.

yeah listening to them speak it doesn't seem like that hard of a language to learn. i know there's a lot of weird inflections in the way they pronounce certain words and whatnot ...maybe that's what makes it so difficult? Uffie what's the scoop? :D

i would love to learn one of the scandinavian langauges... norwegian or finnish preferably....i think i read Icelandic is the hardest of them all. :merchant:
norwegian would be way easier to learn than finnish. and im pretty sure finnish is harder than icelandic. icelandic language comes from old norse... so its pretty easy to learn if u study but finnish is on a whole 'nother ridiculous level... had a professor in college speak finnish and it was impossible for me to understand any...

 Roger Sterling was right then....
i guess it makes sense that the "old norse" langauges like Norwegian and Icelandic would easier to learn for someone who speaks German. both are germanic tribal languages at their base. pos rep btw!

I speak only English and French and understand some St. Lucian patois (because of my mother).

Being able to speak French makes the patois easy to understand.. Unfortunately for me, my French is starting to get rusty after not having to speak it in high school. :to:

When the Quebecois start to speak their hyperspeed French I'm all :krs::mindblown::childplease::why::wtf::what:

I'm in the same boat with the French man. It's like "yooooooo, slow down on that last part i aint catch it all." lol

How hard is it to learn French?

If your native language is English, it's considered relatively easy.

Of course, that just general consensus and it's all a matter of opinion. What language is the most difficult depends on your native language. For someone whose native language is English, the most difficult languages would probably be Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.
