lotta ducktales in here

but that was to be expected

:laff:...I was thinking the same thing......I speak English and English only....

Well I live in Canada in the Ottawa area so speaking French is pretty much necessary if you want to get anywhere and it's pretty obvious that I speak English. My mother's from the islands so that's where I get the patois from.. I don't speak it but I do understand most of it.

Not sure about the others here but there are no ducktales from me :youngsabo:

I can understand Spanish fluently but that's it. Learning new languages as an adult is so hard :to:

If my parents and family hadn't spoke French and Spanish around me I'd be super lost. :ohlawd:

Didn't realize how hard it was to learn languages as an adult when compared to childhood. I flew through German 4-6th grade but taking Japanese in college :noah:

I spent four years in Ottawa and the only people that I came across also able to speak French were in Hull!

If anything, I'd say it's probably a plus for govt employment, but beyond that? I wouldn't guess it's necessary or even particularly advantageous at all in that city.

People stay telling me I'm gonna die in this city if I don't know French so.. :upsetfavre:

They're exaggerating to the point of lying.

Count yourself lucky that you weren't obligated by law to learn the language unlike some people...
