You shape your views on Islam on what you see in the media, which only focuses on hard-liners and extremists. At it's highest point the Islamic society was the most socially progressive. The Quran itself states that not all people who claim they are muslim are actually living by the book and that a good majority are living wrong by following things that are outside the book. The Quran breeds submitters to Islam.. the rest are deluded by Hadith and Sectarianism. Some of them worship Mohammed as much as the worship God. No Religion is without it's faults.
So...who's in charge after muhammad dies?

My religious book is the Quran... not the Hadith. Hadith can be written by anyone. It's an outside book.. The Qur'an is a complete book and needs no companion book. Your views on Islam are as flawed as those who practice extremism.
