I went a lot when I was in college until one of my friends was like “so rather than go to the club, you’d rather sit around in a close dark intimate space and take turns putting a pipe in your mouth with other men? :dame:

Since that I stopped going, plus herpes hasn’t gone anywhere. :scust:

shyt is disgusting. :scust:

When I learned one pull of hookah is equivalent to 7 (maybe 10) cigarettes, I left it alone. That was almost 15 years ago.

Now, I'm more scared for these kids out here spreading herpes via hookah lounges.:francis:

The appeal was the lounges are usually nicely decorated, have couches and more intimate / not as loud as a club

Why do some people call it hookah and other's Shisha?

Over here we know it as shisha because all the Arabs and Islamic people out here smoke it from time.

I've been to a few but it's not really for me, I don't smoke and I'm not the type to sit around just to stunt. Also back in the day (10 years ago) you couldn't talk to girls like that, most of the people who go to them here are Muslims, and don't do wanna be seen doing Haram shyt or stuff that can get you judged (Muslim women talking to non Muslim guys)

But I understand the appeal culturally.
:yeshrug:
That's the fukked up thing about culture, once the masses flock to something it's automatically tainted. Not far of a stretch but this is why going out to clubs IMO is ass now compared to back then.

Another funny thing is, history repeats itself. To your comment "type to sit around just to stunt"

The first hookah in the form we know today dates back to 16th century India at a time when Indian glass manufacturing began as a result of the exporting of glass in India through the British East India Company. During this period, smoking tobacco also became popular amongst the noblemen in high society. In an attempt to purify smoke through water in a glass base called a “Shisha”, the Hookah was invented. These rough iterations of the now classic design featured wooden shafts with a secondary shaft affixed to the heart to smoke from. With this design in place, Hookah soon cemented itself as a way for noblemen to show their high social status.

Once upon a time you could smoke in stores and restaurants and people were :scusthov:then new laws kicked in

Now people kinda sorta have a dissonated spot and people are still :what:lol
