What is Ross lacking??

In this day and age, fans get a lot more connected with the artist than probably ever before. J. Cole is my n*gga, he tells alot of stories about his come up and his life experiences in his raps. Tunes like BMF and sh*t make a n*gga go mad in a club but sometimes them introsepective tunes like Too Deep For The Intro / God's Gift are the shyt that resonates more. That type of connection with his fans enabled him to post very impressive numbers for his debut album. Infact, Sideline Story wasn't even that far away from GFID in terms of 1st weeks.

Does Ross have that type of connection with his fans? He moves decent numbers but for someone of his status, he should be doing a whole more. For me the lack of vulnerability in his catalogue is the only thing preventing him from being heralded in raps elite. You look at the dudes at the top, 'Ye, Drake, Wayne, Hov', Nas, Em, you can think of several dope songs EACH where they talk about loves lost and/or drug addictions and/or genuine life struggles.

Not the same for Ross. That's whats missing in my eyes.

Regardless of what these anti-ross stans stay, ross is as real as it gets. Plus he gives other nikkas shine and put money int heir pockets. Thats one of reason jeezy's backed off of ross. He threw a stone at ross then hid his hand. Ross got real goons backing him and jeezy know it as well as a bunch of rappers in the industry.the REAL reason why nobody from boobie came at ross is cause he aint lying about being down with the crew. You cannot claim affiliation with dudes like this without putting in work with them or you will get exposed

My sentiments exactly. Ross grew up with Black and the boys. Way before there was a "Boobie Boys" they were just kids growing up repping their hood ODH (OVER DA HUMP) No real nikkas from the clique would ever say Ross wasn't affiliated because they all ate and came up together. Ross still look out for and take care of a lot of them nikkas family. If you don't like his rap style then so be it but saying he lying bout being affiliated or the shyt he has done and seen is just laughable.

So here is Boobie Boy members calling Ross "a rapper doing rapper shyt", "a little nikka", "unconscious of his actions", "what he's doing ain't gangsta", pulling "sucker moves". Then on top of all this, they doubt he even knew Black, and the sole reason Ross got a pass was because they couldn't get in contact with Black.

So cut the bullshyt out.

Honestly, that is not hurting him. He was most likely small time. He went to the trouble of going to college, so we know he got his start much later in life.

I listened to some of the songs posted in here and he is diverse & creative, but he is rapping basically in 3rd person because he hasn't done 90% of the shiit he rapping about.

Ross takes it to the extream so he comes off as an über thug. There is no in between with him.

That's why his music lacks feeling, I bet not even Ross can relate with most of the stuff he rhymes about.

But then are quick to say "he ain't really that hot in the streets like Jeezy and J Cole. Look at his sales"



So which one is it? Can't have it both ways and remain credible...
