Facts.

I see a lot of people saying Dre hasn't done anything dope lately, who haven't even heard the Marsha project. If you listen to that and compare it to what he was doing on Truth Hurts' first joint, you can see that he's definitely more advanced now with his techniques for R&B. He's stepped it up crazy.

Like you said, he's been at it for a few decades, he's not going to stay in the same place. Lord Finesse recently said that the expectations for Dre are so high, that there's almost no way for him to stop putting the pressure on himself to top the classics he's already done. No matter what he does now, people are gonna have an issue with it. That's why we haven't seen Detox.

He reused some played out samples on that record, which really took away from the experience. Didn‘t sound fresh. It was a good album but it lost points heavy for that reason, for me personally.

That was Marsha's vision for the album though.

She said she wanted to make a project that was a love letter to all the old songs she loved back in the day. So him bringing those samples back was part of the idea. It was a concept album. Couple years ago, she spoke about how she wanted to do this album. Dre did what she was asking for. And he did a dope job on the production.

Yeah that’s fair. But the context doesn’t really influence the experience when I listened to it. I didn’t know that info when listening to the album and I don’t think it would have any impact on the experience if I did. In saying that though, I‘ll revisit it this week to test that and see how I enjoy it.

I don’t think Dr Dre made his own beats since The DOC album.

Dr Dre was a beat maker in the 80s and went full fledged MUSIC PRODUCER in the 90s and never turned back.

Mel-Man always talked about how nobody can chop samples and program drums on the MPC like Dre does.

Lord Finesse, Just Blaze and Erick Sermon all flew to stay in Cali to work with Dre for months. All three tell stories about how they learned how to make beats on a higher level, from being taught mad new techniques by Dre. Daz credits Dre with teaching him while Dre was working on The Chronic and Doggystyle, and he said he used what he learned from watching Dre during those years to make his sh*t on Dogg Food. Sam Sneed says the same. Dre teaches legends.

He's the GOAT because he can do it all.

The Marsha project has a mixtape like feel to it, and it fully existing outside of rap (even though it's influence is all over it) was a good look for Dre's catalog. I felt like that one came out dope

But that Snoop album, Compton and Oxnard failing commercially and dividing fans really took the wind out of a "produced by Dr Dre" and it's potential impact. I see the good in all three of those projects but I think it's safe to say they are mid
