It would be terrible.....all signs point to Rock ending Punk's reign of delusional respect at the Royal Rumble. Even if Punk gets the title back from Ryback all that momentum is gone. If Ryback looks good at HIAC then you got another main eventer. If he's not ready then you push him back down a lil. Awarding Ryback with the main title just six months after his debut would be especially dumb.

Here's the problem...CM Punk is Ryback's first real challenge. He loses to his first real threat? WTF does that mean for his streak against small/mid size jobbers. It means he was a pretender instead of an success. If he wins, it's way too soon and of course it won't last because he's not facing the Rock in Phoenix. Problematic. Unnecessary but it's better than Cena getting ANOTHER fukking title shot for NO reason at all.

Now is not the time to kill Ryback's momentum. I'd put him over to establish him as a legit main eventer and let Punk win it back later with help from Heyman and/or Brock ... because the belt on Ryback, even if he holds it for a short time, does make him more established, and this company desperately needs believable main eventers.

throwing the title on someone doesn't make them legit, look at Swagger.

You got to think about it from a business standpoint which Vince will, to have Ryback lose would really kill all of his momentum. To have Punk lose, it will do nothing because he can get it back in some chicken shyt way at another PPV.

Punk's run has lasted long enough, heel or face, it needs a breather. Ryback is literally inches away from being there next Batista type of guy.

Strike when the iron is hot, listen to that crowd and they're gonna give him the belt. You know how many Ryback shirts would be selling.

They need to give him the W at HIAC and have Brock fukk him up at the next PPV and get Punk the title back in time for Rocky.

Not automatically, no. But their pushes have been very different and their characters are worlds apart. Swagger was booked like a joke, partly because of that lisp, and became essentially a comedy act. That won't be the case with Ryback. He's already over as a killer, the belt would cement that and they can keep him legit by booking him right after that.

Swagger's problem was that one day Vince decided lisps are hilarious.
