One thing I hated about some of the customers were the ones who would tell me to smile. Like bytch I been on my feet all day, cleaned the dining area, the bathrooms, the parking lot, took out all the trash, changed all the bags for the soda machine, and I just got cussed out by a 50 year old because we didn't put a handful of onions when he said he wanted extra on his whopper, u really think Ima fukking smile after doing all of this shyt and I only make $7.50 an hour for doing it? fukk YOUI work at McDonald's 5 years and every job I have had since than has been a breeze. I look at the time and say my shift is over already. People really don't understand the struggles of working at McDonald's. Working fast pace, dealing with customer who look down on yu, taking orders from a person younger than me who doesn't kno half the shyt I kno.
It wasn't just at work just the stigma of being a McDonald's worker made people look at me funny and I hated it because I'm a smart intellectual person, I'm a senior in college, I've accomplished a lot in my life but people just looked at me as the McDonald worker
I hear ya.
donuts are good but i cant justify spending money on them.
I worked for Comcast which had its perks like free cable, free gym in the facility, tons of discounts from other companies when you're an employee (cell phone bills, car dealerships), and 80% of your coworkers are dimes or at the least fukkable. The only thing that sucks is the pissed off customers. It really ain't bad at all. You just gotta remember that 99% of the people calling u aren't calling to tell u what a great job you're doing. They will be pissed and u just gotta eat that The angriest customers are white women. The courage they have knowing they're behind a phone and u can't physically smack the shyt out of them is fukking outstanding knowing damn well they wouldn't speak to u like that in person. If it werent so far from where I lived, I would of stuck around a lot longerHow's working call centers? I heard it was frustrating & hilarious. The rage customers would have towards you, just because your doing your job is hilarious.
they're the same customers yu do smile to and ask them how yu doin only to get this face . Working the customer service area was one miserable LOne thing I hated about some of the customers were the ones who would tell me to smile. Maybe she did, I mean people are quite removed from things now a days. Especially with the way that we treat one another. But nonetheless it's still a good reminder, and I think people need these kind of reminders.I didn't think I was being overly negative, but whatever...I'm not oblivious to the sentiment she is trying to make.
Article just read like she came to some earth-shaking epiphany. Like they just came to the realization that, "oh people who work at McDonald's are human too."
I'm not too fond of self-congratulating narratives that teenagers and people the world over should have concluded decades ago.
Now she can go back and fight the good fight when her middle to upper middle class friends make sarcastic quips when ordering a big Mac.
I get it...
They just let anyone publish articles these days.

And I didn't see it as a self-congratulating narrative, if anything she made herself seem ignorant and removed from reality, from a reality that is difficult to perceive unless you've been in that position before or have had someone else speak to you about it or have read in an article. I never gave it the thought because it never appeared on my radar, so I don't think that it's something obvious that people all over the world would have concluded decades ago.
Plus she gave props to hard working people.
You obviously don't, that's why negativity incites your words. You should leave it out. And allow someone to give props, which is the overall idea of the message.

Man, try moving furniture and washing dishes breh.Try construction if you want something to make every job really feel like a cakewalk
I took the article a different way, it made me realized I overlooked something in the life of the underprivileged.
Starbucks and McDonald's pay about the same, but Jerome would probably have a heard time getting a job at Starbucks.
I'll buy this. I thought Starbucks Batista's made more than that.
The schedule is 12 days on and 1 day off. 12 hours a day.
The time I did it was for 6 months. Ive even did it with night shift.
You did a schedule like that before?
I've worked various jobs on every level
95% of people don't know what the fukk they're doing in any industry is my conclusion
Don't sell yourself short by settling for anything. Simply protect your rep (good rep) and you can do anything you want to coz most people are idiots and followers
