You're an idiot
This privilege, on average, lasts 3 years. The league minimum is $435k (for a rookie, with slight upticks with more seniority).
Only the best players who can sustain decently long careers can make enough money to sustain that lifestyle into their non-playing days. For the VAST majority of players who have come in and out of the NFL, their NFL money is gone and they have to find new ways to support themselves and their families. This "millionaire lifestyle" is not for all players, and even for those that do enjoy that, it's usually short-lived.
Of course Demarco Murray and Shady McCoy are good enough to make great money and, if they are smart, it'll support them for a long time. BUT 1) they might not be smart, and 2) this isn't just about those guys. If you're taking the stance "stop putting yourself above the team" then surely that goes for all 53 players plus the practice squad, not just Demarco Murray and Shady McCoy. And most of the guys on the rosters of most teams are not going to make it much longer in the league, and they won't be making NEAR Murray or McCoy money. If they felt THEIR earning power was being sabotaged by bad coaching, surely no one would complain if they wanted their shot.
Also - if you're going to make these comparisons to regular people on some "we would all kill for the privilege to carry a ball for millions of dollars a year" shyt, then, wouldn't you want to maximize your own earning potential while you can? If you felt like the best sales rep in your company, and you're paid on commission but your boss is always sending other guys out in your region sharking sales from you, aren't you going to say something? What, it's okay because you're not a "millionaire getting paid to play a game" but they just need to shut up? Even though Murray and McCoy are currently in the prime of their earning potential hoping to maximize that as best they can, because it is THEIR lives and THEIR money and they want to make the most they possibly can, they just need to STFU because you're jealous of their lives? I'm sure poor or homeless or starving people would kick their own mothers in the face to have your $50k a year job too, but they ain't gonna be mad at you if you want to secure the best future for yourself and your family while you are at your peak earning years.
This conversation is annoying as fukk. As if a football paycheck is just gonna last forever or some shyt, like most of these guys aren't making significantly less than the "millions" you fantasize about, and for a very short time.
