Of course you should be thinking about the team. BUT if the team is messing with your career and your money because they aren't utilizing you properly, that's a problem. This is these guys' livelihoods. A guy could get severely underpaid for an entire contract because he was underutilized or not utilized properly by a coach, and if someone feels like that's the case, I give him all the credit in the world for speaking up. Like shyt, if I'm Brandon Boykin right now watching Antwon Blake get abused every play, knowing my contract runs out at the end of the season, I'd def. be saying something. This season, Boykin could be losing millions in the future because Tomlin refused to play him all year. Luckily he got in this past week and should stay in for the rest of the season. And he's acted like a mature professional the whole time, but I wouldn't have blamed him if he looked out for his career, his money, and his family and spoke up about being benched

True. But on the mic in front of the media is not the place to talk about how you are being used. You need to be taking that up with the coaches during team drills at practice. Because we know what happens when you talk about it in front of the camera. The media takes it out of context and makes you look like the bad guy. And these CACS on Twitter can't wait to make you look worse when a old school coach agrees with them. :manny:

Fux Herm Edwards talking about. Muafuxas really think this shyt really matters. Its a game and its entertainment and it is all about the players. Nobody is tuning in to see coaches. It's not about football, its fuxing sports entertainment, and its not entertaining without the players.

I think coach Herm was just speaking of old anger of players not listening to him and making it all about themselves which all ended up in him getting fired.

Yeah I think it's sad that the general public will never sympathize with athletes no matter how much sense their position makes because they "make millions to play a game". It's ridiculous because football careers are short, guys could be losing millions because their contracts aren't guaranteed and they could be a cap casualty or, like previously discussed, get low-balled on a contract because they're not being utilized properly. Next thing you know, a guy is retired or out of the league and there goes most of his earning power. Meanwhile, coaches have guaranteed contracts and buy-outs, and are given chance after chance at different places. And owners? shyt, do we even need to talk about how rich they are? The narrative around NFL players being whiny spoiled millionaires needs to change.

I disagree. We are tuning in for the coach. Tuning in for their game plan to put these entertainers(the players) in the best position to win. You missed on this comment breh.
Now if you would have said we don't tone in to watch the owners sign check. Then I'd agree

Who gives a fukk with the general public thinks. If they pay to go to the game or pay for cable. They are the ones paying their million dollar salaries. I tell my mom this all the time when I come over and I'm like "they make millions because you pay this cable bill every month. If everyone stopped paying for TV Those contracts would diminish really quick

True. But Herm isn't talking about money or contracts in what he said. He was speaking about the AFTER/DURING the time you are under contract you should be thinking about the team. Which I kinda agree with in a sense. I love when Deion talks about some dudes maybe running away from making certain hits "That's a business decision" as he likes to say it.

One thing Herm needs to understand is this ain't no high school football all one team shyt. You out there for yourself for the most part. It's a business.
I feel like Herm Edward doesn't need any help finding out what the NFL is about lol.

Dafuq?! Lots of companies make major decisions based on public opinion. If the public supported players more than they do during CBA negotiations, it would put more pressure on the league to do the right thing. Obviously it wouldn't be the only factor (especially if DirecTV will still pay even if games aren't played), but it would create pressure
