the answer is father figures. 70-85% of black households are raised by a single parent (female). a lack of a loving father figure would be my answer (not church or club).

Is it a lack of a loving father/father figure that's the problem or a lack of a union between black man and woman? A married man is far less likely to abandon the child of his wife then a man who impregnates a girl he hardly knows, wouldn't you agree? It seems to me that priorities are out of place. In a perfect world you'd meet someone, date them, get to know them and evaluate their character, decide if that person is a deserving husband/wife and then come the babies, but we're doing things all out of order.

Neither the club and the church are byproducts of a bigger issue and that is the lack of black fathers in their children's lives and the crack epidemic.

Two of the most popular and common institutions frequented by the modern day negro...

Both have been a place where countless hours of time, money and resources have been wasted..

One seems to be the obsession of those over 40 while the other is the end all be all for those in their prime years..

Can we get rid of both of these places going forward so we can really start to achieve as a people?

I agree.

But aside from these two institutions, what has done the most harm to the Black community (if we can even call ourselves a "community") include...

1. The psychological effects derived from the institution of SLAVERY passed on from generation to generation.

2. The complete ignorance of one's history (black folk need to see that documentary called *Hidden Colors 1 & 2 )

3. Lack of true self knowledge..

4. Lack of Unity throughout the 'community'

5 ....Oh yeah and so-called mainstream HIP-HOP / RAP music :ehh:
(except for; Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Tupac and Yonas) :takedat:

Japan, but from the 989
I'm going to go with the church on this one. From generation to generation of wasting our potential capital every Sunday, to prove to others that we are part of that society, "Singing" "Jumping for Joy" "Catching the Holy Ghost" and padding the pockets of Creflo Dollar and other mega preachers who have done jack and shyt for the upliftment of others instead of themselves.....well I could go on and on but clubs get shut down if they get out of control while the Black church in particular is about as bad for Black people as BET. Just my opinion. If I do go I do not tithe no matter how many times they pass the plate. I came to hear the word not pay for it. Its all a hustle at the end of the day.

Is that number accurate? Source?

That seems absurdly high.

Of course, as usual with stats it depends on how you define things. It is true that almost 3/4 of black kids in America are born to unwed mothers, but that doesn't necessarily mean they all don't have fathers. Some of those could be couples who are engaged or intend to get married eventually, couples that simply aren't married but are still together, kids whose' dads are still around even if he isn't married to his baby's moms, etc.

But that said, regardless of how you define the stats there are way too many black kids being born to people that aren't ready for it. Either because the parents aren't together, are unemployed/poor, dropouts, etc. The problem is huge.

I voted the church but clearly it's the club.

At least nobody gets smacked up or shut up after a church session.

Man when I was a shorty I remember some thug nikka got murked and then nikkas shot up his funeral too, killing his grandmother.

I'm pretty sure everybody involved had a cross on them, either a tat or hanging off a chain. :pachaha:
