If every NY song sounded like something Salaam Remi would produce and something Nas would choose, I'd blow my head off. LIG was a very good album, but hardly a template that all of NY should imitate. What works for Nas (and it doesn't always work for him) doesn't always work for everyone else.

In a nutshell, a huge component of the NY sound is that it's sample driven. We love samples on top of samples on top of samples. They're harder to clear, harder to put out and harder to officially release without paying an arm and a leg. Much of why people like Harry Fraud's stuff is because it's still reliant on samples and the stuff that doesn't sounds very Alchemist-like. When you strip down the NY sound without samples, it sounds basic, generic and dated.

Besides Harry Fraud, don't forget about Ted Smooth. Ted has been killing the remixes for years now. To me, this was the song of the spring/summer

The way he remixed that Beyonce track was crazy!

Oh I know Ted well. Him and Eddie B. Swift put together some of the best sets you'll hear all summer long at Dyckman Park. Ted's a fool though. He had a song or soundbyte for every player this summer who played

I'd say he played that Love on Top remix, El Teke Teke (if you're around Dominican people you know what song I'm talkin about), 60 Rackz, and anything Meek Mill related more than anything this summer.

I can't front though..some of it actually "WORKS" ...french montana southern characteristics don't sound bad at all.......especially on this track...

Pop That (Explicit Version) - YouTube

Yeah, after you accept the fact that he's a terrible rapper and stop tryin to figure out why he's in front of a microphone it's hard to deny that u really want that shyt to come on when your in the strip club because it does what it's supposed to do...

I only been to Dyckman park once for the tournament and that was last year. It was around the time Otis came out and Ted was getting his Flex on, rewinding the song 20 times lol

Rap is always in the back because they sit around worrying about regional sounds. Ain't no regions anymore, we worldwide. Think bigger, you fuggin weirdos.

exactly.....the global economy and the internet has made regions irrelevent

I don't understand this.

Everyone that says this is obviously talking about ASAP rocky, so why dont they just say his name and stop being p*ssy. I've seen 100 people say this, but not one person say ASAP rocky

most if not all of those guys aren't the face of NY right now outside of the internet and true heads. i doubt Mannie has much time to really dig too deep unless someone brings him an Action Bronson album or something. i can def see where he's coming from
