Blame TDE for thinking everyone is Kendrick and can disappear for years without losing attention/fanbase. I just don't understand why TDE has decided to starve their artists when a project isn't out. In 2011-2014, TDE dudes were everywhere doing features. Outside of that Gibbs track when is the last time Q did a noteworthy feature? Where is Ab Soul? Jay Rock had a big year, not long ago, and then completely disappeared too with no features. This just isn't good business. TDE lucked into getting a second superstar (SZA), something that hasn't happened to any label outside of Young Money...and they still aren't playing it right.

Crash Talk was terrible, and I thought it was super weird how Q kept shytting on Blankface during that promo process. In reality Blankface did better no matter what he tries to say (sales wise). I'm not sure where he's gonna go next though. He's gonna have to really up his hook game to make any impact next time.

Blankface is one of my favorite albums from newer generations and definitely my favorite Q record. It showed his growth as an artist after listening to his previous projects. I remember him shytting on it saying the folks that liked it don't buy records or something. You could see where his head was at with Chopsticks. I've never listened to that song in it's entirety. Way to alienate a fan base. I purchased Blankface too.

TDE is the epitome of The Five Heartbeats:

  • Label focusing on Kendrick Lamar when they actually have a whole squad of talented performers
  • Keeps shytting and holding back potential talent (Ab Soul and Isiah Rashad)
  • Keeps trying make someone a "thing" (Pushing Reason when dude is dumpster)
  • SZA= Meal Ticket
  • Treating the game like its 1998 (No TDE in this ADHD era, nobody is going to hover to your freestyle Sundays willingly)
  • Keeping everything in the vault

Such a shame because I was really hyped for the group as a whole, but sadly the thrill is gone...

dude would rather golf

if he got enough money, i don't really blame him

:manny:

I think its more so he'd rather be with his new baby. I think he had her right when crash talk dropped, then he barely wanted to do crash tour (he split it in two) toured that year, biggest tour he's ever had. At the atl show he said he had a new album coming but the next year was Corona :yeshrug:
But to your point, he still getting pga money :yeshrug:
Its common sense shyt but people would rather the conspiracy theories lol

His time has passed.
I’m kinda feeling like this. Q had potential to be a mainstream artist, but the long layoffs between projects killed that momentum by blank face - that was 2016. At this point, dude is 11 years deep in the game and has gotten progressively less popular. I’m still a fan and am here for his verses or projects, but people need to stop acting like he’s letting popularity, sales, etc slide. He peaked awhile ago and ain’t gonna get no more popular or gain younger fans. Dude is over the hill in that regard. All of TDE’s rappers are except Kendrick. These threads get made like it’s still 2014.

I’m a huge fan of Rock, but his last project didn’t make him a star. Stop it. He finally got a big single and some award recognition, but he’s not a top name nor someone the general public (other than his actual fans) is waiting on.

He’s right. Flabby heads don’t support that type of rap. They say they love it but you don’t see the love in sales. He’s lucky he had that song with Kanye on that album or those sales would’ve been  status

I feel like Schoolboy Q still hasn't found himself musically. It's weird, he's 3 mainstream albums in and I feel like he still hasn't found his nitch.

One minute he's doing trap rap, then the other, he's doing gangsta boom bap (which I prefer).

I just don't really know about Q.
