What happened to Rock is slowly happening to Rap. You are seeing the beginning of Rap no longer being the dominant genre in music

Wonder what will take its spot because nothing is bubbling with the same underground to mainstream appeal and pretty much everything is influenced by hip hop at the moment anyway.

That and its got to one up rap like it did to rock. That alone seems impossible given how coarse it is so I expect an AI resurgence of dead artists of all genres to fill the void as the new old thing. After that it'll be something from the East which will probably still have its roots in rap/R&B anyway.

That or a new language will come through and change the game...

Ehhhhh still number 1 and nothing is even close to it. All the other genres just doing their version of rap now. They got country white boys calling it country but it’s clearly rap over country music. Taylor swift and lizzo might be the only two singers not rapping. Even B got some rap verses. Rock is dead. It ain’t ever gonna be classical or jazz.

They have absolutely nothing to replace it with. Everybody loves our culture
