his label was rookies, they didn't know how to handle his personality which is pretty "anti" industry. for example he had a gig at some fashion show i can't remember and he did a protest on the runway lol. not wanting to make typical "hits" type of music, he's crossing trump out on late night shows, etc.
then 6lack comes along and they are trying to blow up (of course, its music BUSINESS after all) so they focus more on 6lack and part ways with raury.
basic industry/label issue. but he still puts out stuff and has his shows and events. think he had a kid recently
Considering what they did with 6lack and now Summer Walker I say they made the right move by cutting bait. They trying to make money at the end of the day.
