Do the Right Thing was his best film. Malcolm X is my fav just because its MALCOLM X. But honestly this is his most enjoyable film to watch in my opinion.

It doesn't stand up against other Jazz films ('Round Midnight/Bird) and it falls short of his own medium as well - it certainly isn't his most underrated piece.

You know what. I didnt like how the chick took the nikka back so easily. Denzel disappears for a minute and then shows up ans she takes him back like nothing. Spike didnt have to force a happy ending. But overall i loved the movie. Wesley was right throughtout the whole movie tho.

Bird is a little overrated.. you're better off watchin' the documentary on Thelonious Monk- "Straight No Chaser" or Ken Burns "Jazz" series

Great documentary - I didn't really want to mention it in comparison to Mo' Better Blues as it is a documentary piece. I don't have extensive knowledge of Jazz, by any stretch of the imagination, but the missing Bird-idiosyncrasies and the drug-issue narrative, took little away from the overall feel and direction of the film.
