I hate the participation award narrative. :yeshrug:
No other GOAT in anything ever, has gotten the "at least they made it there" cop out.
nikkas want credit for ALMOST doing their job

imagine a sales rep ALMOST made the sale, he was right there with the client to sign but at the last moment he couldn't seal the deal

ALMOST just doesnt cut it

Example 897398347983749374939 of why LeBron stans are the filth of this board - pay close attention to the bold in each of these posts:

Above @Draje is stating that LeBron anchored the Heat defense / the Heat's defensive fulcrum / the fulcrum to the Heat's blitzing defense. Which is funny because I came across this article from 2013 - Court Vision: Chris Bosh holds the Heat defense together, which states and I quote -

Not only did @Draje bite the terminology from this article, but he had the fukkin' nerve to say that LeBron was the "fulcrum" of the defense and not Bosh, and has been using talking points from articles about Bosh's defensive roles and impact on those Heat teams and attributing them to LeBron instead.

Here's another article where he tried to give LeBron credit for the Heat's blitzing defense -

The key to Miami's defense

Won? To get there? Man you guys are something else. I don't ever hear Jim Kelly's name brought up amongst the GOAT's and he went to 4 straight SB's. Only now when it comes to Bron does conference titles matter. Bron is a great player and will probably leave the game a top 5 player, but you need a new hill to die on. That's such a sucker ass narrative.
Listen winning a championship has no meaning in an argument of how good a player is. It's not qualitative of how well a player plays and now you're flipping sports. Bill Russell is the GOAT or the narrative doesn't fit.

Never said it was the end all be all. It's what separates the greats when everything else is comparable. You act like saying Bill is the GOAT is a diss. If you wanna say that, then so be it. I just know that when you're playing a sport where the best player can effect both offense and defense and touches the ball most possessions, winning matters. Just stop trying to wedge Bron into that discussion. Karl Malone has better numbers than most players to ever lace em up and I don't ever hear him brought up cause of his Western Conference chips along with his numbers.

Jim Kelly is in the Hall of Fame tho. He'd be nowhere near the hall if he didn't play in 4 super bowls. So obviously it counts for something...

If he won 3 and lost 4 (or 5) he would definitely be in the conversation as one of the greatest QBs ever. But he won zero so he has to settle for just being a Hall of Famer...

Nah it has nothing to do with how great a player it is simply a measure of accomplishements. Unless you think Tony Parker was bettet than KD up until last year that is.

So you realize how arbitrary your point has become right? This is a convo about the greatest of all time.....not greatness. It becomes a delicate song and dance about what math equation equals GOAT. Would 2 wins and 4 losses qualify him? Would 3 wins and 6 losses qualify him? Too much gray area when talking about the greatest to ever do something. MJ numbers are there and his accomplishments are there....PLUS he's 6-0 in Finals. The rings are just the separators.....doesn't mean Bron isn't great. Just hard to be the GOAT when someone else's numbers and accomplishments match up AND they have more rings than you.
