You don't have to go insanely clean to cut. I've done a lot of cuts and I've never done the unsalted chicken breast/broccoli bullshyt. Right now I'm prob on my cleanest cut ever. It's very basic. I have a 2000kcal/day target and I do cardio on top of that. My daily meals go as follows:
Weekdays:
Breakfast: black coffee
Lunch: 1 of several 600-700kcal, ~40-60g protein meals.... some kind of chicken and rice or pasta (with flavor- Rice A Roni, fettucine alfredo, chicken parm, Jamaican stewed chicken + rice and peas etc), meat loaf, turkey + stuffing etc.... I eat good
Mid afternoon protein shake: 100g protein, 40g fiber, 6g creatine
Dinner: 700-800kcal of whatever... tacos, beef stroganoff, pizza, whatever wifey/grandma make
Weekends:
Breakfast: pancakes or Cream of Wheat and eggs, coffee on Saturday for my bike ride
The rest of the day: protein shake + whatever; I go to maybe 2300-2400kcal on Saturday
All I drink is water... I don't even drink alcohol much (because I'm so weak 1 beer would put me down). Only deviation outside of that is for my bike rides I'll have a granola bar and 12oz of juice in a little electrolyte cocktail. About 300kcal to do a 500-800kcal ride... fair trade IMO
I think on one of my last cuts I even had a candy bar every day at work.... but that cut into dinner which was not good. Dinner was poverty spec
I just don't buy into the idea that "clean foods" do anything on the cut. I'm down about 7lbs in the last 3 weeks just eating less of the foods I usually do. It's bad enough being hungry all the time. You don't want to compound that by making what little you eat boring AF
Sorry if I'm on edge.... I'm fukking hungry But naw you don't need to eat completely clean. Just eat smart. Leverage high volume foods and low calorie flavoring. Mustard is good. Parmesan cheese is good and relatively calorie cheap. Etc. etc.
