I said I didn't want to argue but here you go.
I'm gonna let the rhetoric slide and ask you to elaborate on reason number 3.
How does wihthholding the vote lead to self reliance and empowerment for Black people exactly?
I don’t know if you’re being purposefully dense but it’s not about not voting. It’s about what are we going to do in lieu of voting because voting clearly doesn’t work. To many black people don’t practice self reliance and empowerment because they’re waiting on the government or politician to come save them ie the Democrats saving them from trump etc. Only to find out nothing changes or in this case with Biden and even with Obama, things get worse for black people causing them to sit out the next election, rinse and repeat.

By not voting and practicing self reliance and insulating ourselves economically like other demographics do, we put ourselves in a position of power when it comes to our votes. But when the Democrats see that we’re weak and powerless they openly disrespect us and practice benign neglect because they know we have no other alternative.

It’s like @kevm3 said, if you goto a car dealership with no cash and no financing, they will rape you on a deal. However, if you walk in that same dealership with your own cash/financing they will capitulate to your terms. Most importantly, if they aren’t willing to effectively negotiate you can simply walk away because you have positioned yourself financially to have options.

Black people politically are like people with bad credit and no cash that have to resort to those shiesty buy-here-pay-here dealerships with 25% interest rates because they have no other options. Whereas other groups are like the people with 700+ credit scores getting 0% interest loans and free car washes for life.

The question is what do we gain from withdrawing from the political process?
Using your example, if you withdrew from the process of car ownership, does that get you efficient transport equal or superior to owning your own vehicle?
To make my last post shorter, buying a car and voting are about the same thing: leverage.

If I have $10k cash AND secured my own financing with a 700+ credit score, the dealership knows that I have options and will basically throw any car i want at me. Even 0% financing. They will do this because they know with my finances I have leverage which gives me options.

On the other hand if I have terrible credit and little to money, I have no leverage. The dealership will rape me on a deal or will even turn me away.

Black people have no political leverage which is why the dems consistently practice the benign neglect policy or being flat out disrespectful saying “if you don’t vote for me you ain’t black”

Even the republicans understand black people vote Democrat no matter what so they might as well go full conservative right wing and apply the southern strategy.

Perfectly said.
And they are passing laws across the country to block black people from being able to vote.
They are not passing laws blocking black people from being able to vote. The irony about this post is if voting worked, we wouldn’t be talking about voting rights 60+ Years after the voting rights act of 1965.

This. Not being involved in the process is how you get your shyt took and not even understand how. Im not even entertaining this issue again because the folks that are voting are winning while we think we can slick the system by disenfranchising ourselves.

it would force politicians to come with tangible benefits to win our votes.
Or... they stop caring altogether. For whatever reason, this doesn't seem to be a reasonable possibility for some but it happens.

There are areas in this country that parties don't even waste their time with anymore. Why wouldn't parties simply do this with demographics?

What do we gain from voting for politicians who don’t have our best interests at heart?

I feel the only strategy we have left as a group is to collectively withhold our vote.
That's not the only strategy. It's the only strategy that doesn't require bloodshed.

This is a world where people all over the world sometimes gotta fukk people up to get what they want. It might not be right morally or ethically, but sometimes it's the only way you can get results, especially in a country where people are drawing lines in the sand and won't budge anymore. Then you won't ever have to deal with shameless pandering because there's consequences to that.

That was a boycott.
The efficiency of boycotts is rooted in direct financial consequences and is ultimately a short term leverage tactic, somewhat similar to a strike.
If the party being boycotted or a strike levied against can survive the tactic, it renders the tactic ineffective.
Montgomery bus boycott lasted a year.
The withdraw of Black people from the political process would have an effect on only one of the major political parties.
If we are 13% of the American population, and only some of that population votes, how much damage do we actually cause the DNC by withholding?
Did you not pay attention the previous election? Black people are the sole reason trump isn’t the president right now. Black people are also the reason the dems have a senate majority.

Withdrawing our vote doesn’t effect one party. You have to understand the republicans understand that black people will vote Democrat no matter what so they in turn employ the southern strategy and go full right wing. If our vote were up for grabs to the highest bidder, I personally believe the republicans wouldn’t resort to the “white supremacy” strategy. We saw how the parties flipped before.

The ironic thing is the democratic policies (ie joe Biden’s crime bills, immigration, lgbt/abortion laws limiting the black population) are more harmful to the black community than Republican policies.

We had a million threads on this and I'm sure we'll have a million more asking the same question that was answered ages ago. You already know why people have this stance, you just don't like or agree with it. That's fine. Vote however you want. It's not going to change people's opinion.

People want something in return for their vote. When you negotiate, if you don't like the offer, you make a counter offer. If two parties can't agree on the terms, you walk away. We're focusing on voting locally, because there are tangible benefits to doing so. This country owes us. Maybe not you. For those of us that are owed, we're not going to let the issue die, ever.

Tariq really got yall thinking you look smart with these silly "business meeting" analogies to explain something as high stakes and complex as race, politics, and government. An actual CEO that understand this shyt would laugh at yalls middle school logic. Even they sit back in fear

Our elections are not a 45 minute taping of Deal or No Deal centered around "African Americans." Its a straight up zero sum battle of ideology and the future of our laws and government. You don't bail out and hand over those stakes to others because you can't pigeonhold the party that supports you to every single thing you demand.

Elections are gonna happen whether you like it or not and they have consequences. It's either southern white powr cacs eat shyt and we get to change things, or we eat shyt and they get to change things. There's is no middle ground where black people cut a straight bribery deal for reparations with whichever party offers it up on a silver plattery. That's literally not how democracy works. That's pure roleplay fantasy coming from YouTube hustlers keeping up with the joneses of a foolish audience that knows nothing about politics.

If half these "no tangibles no vote" idiots got their way Donald Trump would be installing a straight up white power MAGA conservative as his fourth Supreme Court pick as we speak. And every bit of progress acheived from the civil rights movement would be under contention as we speak. And the prblack TLRepublicans would get their way: pro-civil rights liberals would be outnumbered and completely powerless to stop them. What a great deal for us. We really stuck it to Clinton and Biden and all the rich billionaire Democrats who are gonna die rich and well whether we participate or not.

Yall are too inept to understand politics beyond what some YouTuber tells you to believe. It's sad.

it says that there's 300+ million people in this country and it's harder than ever to find someone we generally rock with as far as general ideas. While Republicans ride with Trump, not everyone fukks with him like that; it's blind loyalty. They way they dikkride him is the way they'll dikkride the next man who's in that position.

The Democratic primaries proved that nobody truly has a sweeping effect on the public, and we haven't had that since Obama's first term and even Clinton's first term (as far as Democrats)

:gucci:2017 tax bill? Poll closures that just so happen to be around black areas? Jason Mumpower (Republican) attempting to snatch the charter for Mason,Tennessee when the money was coming in after the ford plant was planned? You can not be serious. I could sit here all day naming shyt Republicans are doing. There is no lesser evil with them.

I get the sentiment, and I've been a critic of democrats as long as I've been able to vote back in 2004. Problem is, while democrats may not do anything more for you, you definitely will have your rights taken away if Republicans continue to win.

It's a fukked up situation to be in.
If voting actually worked for black people that wouldn’t be possible. You don’t see republicans complaining about democrats undoing their policies and I still have yet to see a “right” that was taken away from me. If the republicans are taking away our rights, why don’t the dems just stop them from doing so the same way they’re always claiming the republicans are stopping them from getting their agendas across?

See this is the problem with the way y’all think, I never said republican policies aren’t harmful to the black community, I said democratic policies are MORE harmful. All of the policies You named are local and you haven’t named a single policy more harmful than the 90’s crime bills and the entire “super predator” narrative about black people that they still employ today. Democrats want to legalize abortions where the clinics are strategically place in black communities resulting in tens of millions of black births being prevented.

The worst policy you could come up with is a poll closure and a 2017 tax bill and some “attempted” policies. Black people are suffering more now economically than in 2017 all over some white racist ukrainians.

Voting doesn’t work for black people. Period. There’s a reason that black people routinely get local black leadership and even mayors but there’s not a single black governor in all 50 states.

Case in point in Baltimore they set aside money to build a metro line connecting the west side of Baltimore to the rest of the city so that the black residents and youth could have access to the jobs that aren’t available on their side of the city and the white governor RETURNED the federal money and took the state money and reallocated it to the surrounding white counties.

Bruh…the 90s were wild to the point a lot of black people were behind those very policies. It was misguided for sure but you can read statistics for the period. This was just coming from the height of the crack era and black folks themselves were out of sorts with the shyt that was going on. Also, are these abortion or family planning clinics? Yes, both can happen at one, but family planning and other resources beyond abortions take place at those places. Yes, I know the history of planned parenthood.

My dude you are listing a bunch of boogeymen that arent nearly as damaging as what is coming in the pike. The hell you mean “attempted”:gucci:the very fact that you could wave off some shyt like that is troublesome. There is a whole agenda fomenting that is unquestionably worse than the bullshyt Dems are putting out and admitting it is not a crime.
