We are literally the only people who sit back, and expect things to change. Everyone else is involved in their local politics, which is why they get stuff, and we don’t. If you don’t like the candidates, get a group together, and fund one, or put money in their pockets. Or…RUN FOR OFFICE YOURSELF.

But no. We do nothing, and expect things to fall in our laps. Then, we have the nerve to complain about the policies. Somebody is getting into office regardless of your vote. You will be affected regardless of your vote.

There are tons of government grants available for minorities, but because they don’t say “black specifically”, we go,

THEY DON’T HAVE ANYTHING FOR US!!

:damn:

:dahell:
Are we not minorities? All the other minorities are cashing in, yet we sit around, and stay mad. Newsflash, they live here, work, and pay taxes too. AND, because they participate in local politics, and fund their local politicians, THEY GET STUFF. They put the effort into applying for the grants so…THEY GET STUFF.

:krs:

Even in majority black cities with black leadership, the leadership is so incompetent, and corrupt, yet they keep getting elected..why…

Because SOMEBODY VOTED FOR THEM, AND NOT THE OTHER PERSON WHO COULD DO A BETTER JOB

Alot like what...please spell it out in terms of finances not symbolism
all of my representatives from mayor to federal level politicians are black and I've seen the federal dollars they get delivered to my community in terms of contracts, and direct injections of instrastucture funds etc.

Theres money out there but yall want it on front pages and billboards because a lot of us are too insecure to admit we have to negotiate in this openly hostile world.

I know for a FACT my local community would suffer more and be more underfunded without black leadership. Period.

@FeverPitch2 have you heard of blank ticket voting? ( Not the same as not voting in an election but sometimes gets misconstrued)

Professor in Political Science Eddie Claude Jr. author of 'Democracy in Black' discusses in appearance on YouTube and elsewhere. I may link it later

Also ADOS movement ( American Descendants of Slavery Reparations vocacy group and Political Commentators leaders has advocated this strategy 'down ballot voting' In a National Presidential election leave the Presidential candidate option blank when voting l, then check off the box and vote for each candidate in other offices like candidate for House of Representatives, Senate, Clerk etc.

Advocating to do this is a strategy that Black voters could employ to advocate to and pressure officials te meet Black Agenda objectives or policies that meets goals such as Racial wealth Gap closure, Education funding HBCUs, Agriculture Black Farmer protection/compensation, Reparations for Slavery etc.

With electoral math losing Black votes can lose a district or a county, a county can lose a state, losing a state can lose a National election for president.

This in theory or practice would compel and or signal that the Democratic party can not to take the Black vote for granted and needs to deliver material policies that benefit Black Americans if they intend to stay in power.

At some point it just feels like the outcome will be the same whether you vote or not. It can become a very neutral stance depending on the person.

I see the strategy there. However, dems leave Black people in the lurch across the board, not just at the federal level.

In an experiment If 20 percent of prior reliable Black American voters for the 2020 Presidential election stated clearly in the primaries that they refused to vote for the Democratic or Republican candidate but only the other Democratic state and local offices , Unless Democrats made a verifiable commitment to enact concrete full Reparations legislation from leading experts, HBCUS full funding, and lead pipe replacement and other infrastructure building.
The Democrats would have been pressured to deliver and could conceivably if not certainly delivered on those commitments in order to beat Trump.

@FeverPitch2

At the state level it is usually beneficial to a Black voter for a Demicratic Governor or mayor especially because of policies and public programs like Medicaid, SNAP, which Black people utilize. These are opted into by State by State regardless of the President.

Also in the scenario of Black voters could later next time if needed also blank ticket vote at the state level offices and county level offices if necessary to obtain policies that benefit Black Americans.
